Model Jessica Gomes breaks down in tears and speaks out against racism following an increase in Asian hate crimes in the US

Jessica Gomes has spoken out against racism after a deadly shooting in the US on Tuesday, which left six people of Asian descent dead.

A total of eight people were killed in the horrific shooting at three massage parlours in Atlanta, following a recent increase in Asian hate crimes.

The 35-year-old model shared a photo of herself in tears in the wake of the shooting on Instagram on Thursday.

According to a report by CNN on Thursday, hate crimes against the Asian community have been on the rise in the US since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

There have been at least 500 reported attacks on Asian Americans in the first two months of 2021, according to a report by Stop AAPI Hate

A 21-year-old white man, Robert Aaron Long, was arrested over the shootings, but denied they were racially motivated.

‘I know Asian-Americans are very concerned…’ US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday in the wake of the Atlanta shooting, as reported by The New York Times

‘I have been speaking about the brutality against Asian-Americans for the last couple months, and I think it’s very, very troubling.’
