Catherine Tate is set to reunite with James Bond’s Daniel Craig for funny Nan sketch on Comic Relief – 12 years after their first hilarious skit


Catherine Tate is set to reunite with James Bond star Daniel Craig for a funny skit on Comic Relief this Friday.

The comedian, 51, will tap into her famous portrayal of Nan as she meets the 007 actor, 53, when she picks up a part-time cleaning job at the Secret Intelligence Service headquarters.

The duo first joined forces for the charity 12 years ago as her unlucky-in-love character Elaine Figgis forged a romance with the spy.

After foul-mouthed Nan bumps into the commander at the office, Bond finds himself answering invasive questions during his security briefing.

On their collaboration, actress Catherine said in a press release: ‘Nan had a right old time meeting Bond. What a smashing fella. 

‘As ever, it was great fun filming this Comic Relief sketch, huge thanks to Daniel and all the Bond team for being such great sports. I hope it raises lots of money.’

In January, James Bond’s No Time To Die had been delayed again, meaning fans will have to wait to see the latest movie in the franchise.

A new date for the movie was shared on the film’s official Twitter account, revealing the latest expected date is October 8, 2021.  

The movie was previously slated to be released on April 2 after already being hit by several changes due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The film, directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, was originally scheduled for release in April 2020, but was pushed back to November before the release was changed once again to April 2021 in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

No Time To Die is the 25th film in the series, and finds Bond after he has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica when his old friend Felix Leiter, played by Jeffrey Wright, from the CIA turns up asking for help. 

Leaving his seemingly happy life with Madeleine (Lea Seydoux), the protagonist returns to the field to face Safin (Rami Malek) who is armed with a new dangerous technology that could impact the world. 

Red Nose Day will broadcast live on BBC One as some of the nation’s favourite faces come together for a very special night of comedy, entertainment, and music.  

Comic Relief 2021 is set to be hosted by Alesha Dixon, David Tennant, Davina McCall, Paddy McGuinness and Sir Lenny Henry.

Iconic sitcom The Vicar of Dibley will be back for a special message, while the likes likes of Keira Knightley and Michael Sheen will appear in 2020: The Movie.

Comic Relief will air on BBC One at 7PM on Friday.
