An emotional Rita Ora says music ‘saved her life’ during Sydney concert… after her album Phoenix went multi-platinum in Australia

British pop star Rita Ora has revealed that making music has well and truly had a lasting impact on her life.

According to Popsugar Australia, during an intimate performance for Nova’s Red Room in Sydney, the 30-year-old said that music ‘saved my life.’

In fact, she said writing one of her biggest hits, Let You Love Me, was one of the ‘ultimate moments in my life.’

Life saver: Rita Ora said that music ‘saved my life’ during a concert for Nova’s Red Room in Sydney on Wednesday

‘It was a time where people were okay with understanding “okay so if I can’t love myself, how am I going to let anyone else love me?”‘ she said.

‘It takes time for people to get to that place in life. Some people get it earlier than others, some people get it later. Mine was a little late, better late than never!

‘It was good for me, and that’s why music saved my life in a lot of ways, in so many different ways.’

And it appears her hard work has paid off – as her 2018 album Phoenix has gone multi-platinum in Australia.

On Tuesday, she celebrated the major career milestone by attending a special event at Warner Music Australia to mark the occasion.

Rita, who is currently in Australia for work as she is appearing on the country’s edition of The Voice, also said she’d become so accustomed to life down under she doesn’t ‘want to leave’.

‘It’s so beautiful here for so many reasons, every time I come here it’s been so quick, so it’s nice to actually be able to sit here and enjoy the culture and the people and everyone is so nice and friendly,’ she told the crowd.

The blonde bombshell is joining Keith Urban, Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy on the reality TV show. And as a result, she has quickly bonded with fellow songstress, Jessica.

‘She’s like my sister, she’s the best!’ Rita said of the Been Waiting singer.

‘She’s so nice and you know I was a little nervous when I started the new gig and you walk in and you’re like “oooh, what’s it going to be like?” Jess just welcomed me with open arms and there’s nothing better than good sister bonding on shows like that.’

The Voice will commence on Channel 7 later this year.
