Aberdeen seagull steals a packet of crisps from the Co-op

Feeling peckish! Shoplifting seagull sneaks through Co-op doors and helps itself to a packet of crisps

  • The devious seagull was loitering outside the Co-op supermarket in Aberdeen
  • A construction worker exited the supermarket allowing the bird to sneak inside
  • The bird inspected several packets of crisps before picking Salt and Vinegar

This is the hilarious moment a sneaky seagull entered a Co-op store and snatched a packet of ready salted crisps.

A bystander filmed the seagull as it lurked outside the shop in Aberdeen waiting for a human to trigger the automatic door.

As soon as a customer left the shop, the seagull shuffled urgently through the door and perused the available snacks.

Gulls don’t care for the concept of ownership or trade😂

The seagull waddled past Cheese and Onion and Salt and Vinegar options before picking up some Walkers Ready Salted crisps.

The bird carried the crisps through the automatic door and out of the store.

It dropped the packet on the pavement and began pecking furiously at the foil to access the crisps inside.

Social media users reacted to the footage which was shared on Facebook.

One person complained that they found automatic doors difficult to use when compared to the seagull.

Another wrote: ‘Stupid gull. You’re meant to LEAVE the scene of a crime.

‘Also love that he had a wee peruse of the flavours before going for ready salted.’

A third person commented: ‘Love that he rubs it in by eating it directly outside the shop.’

In previous incidents, nurse Emmie Holdrick, 29, inadvertently captured the moment the hungry bird swooped down on her phone.

She had been trying to get a photo of the sugary snack for social media in front of Paignton Beach in Devon, when it was snatched from her on November 19, 2020.

In September 2020, Trinity Anne Taylor, 18, from London was celebrating her birthday in Cornwall with her family when they were targeted by a seagull.

She said: ‘The seagull initially flew down and was standing in an empty coffee cup and my mum told me to start filming. Just as I started to, it swallowed that sausage.

‘Everyone in the cafe was laughing.’

Meanwhile visitors to Brighton are regularly warned that they could face attack from rogue seagulls.
