The CBS-distributed series has gotten the greenlight for season two after enjoying a noticeable ratings bump at the start of 2021, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

‘This is my dream job, and I feel so lucky to get to do this for another year. I am so grateful to CBS Media Ventures and all our station partners for believing in us.’

Though Barrymore’s show isn’t one of the top rated talk shows – averaging under 1million daily viewers per week – it appears to be finding its niche.

Viewership has grown 19 percent by household and 13 percent among women 25-54 between November and February in Nielsen’s metered markets.

CBS Media Ventures president Steve LoCascio commended Barrymore and her team for overcoming the challenges of an unprecedented pandemic launch in his own statement.

‘Launching a daily syndicated show during a pandemic was a challenge no daytime show has ever had to face, but Drew and everyone on this team turned every obstacle into an opportunity and delivered a big, bright, fun hour of much needed optimism to viewers every day,’ he said.

In addition to being the face of the show, Barrymore is in charge behind-the-scenes as executive producer alongside Jason Kurtz and Chris Miller.

‘I was so knee deep into mothering my kids. I was like, “I don’t know who I am anymore.” I think I went way too far the opposite direction [after leaving film.]’

‘If I can’t remember that I’m an individual with a skill set, I might die,’ she went on, explaining how she came to work on Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet for three seasons.

‘That show was the greatest thing that could have ever happened to me,’ Drew later went on.

‘It reminded me to not lose the baby with the bath water in that I don’t want to be filming all the time because I want to raise my kids. It’s like you are this person don’t ditch who you are for your kids. I think that’s a recipe for disaster and parenting.’
