Uber passenger films driver with his eyes closed and his passed out ‘girlfriend’ in passenger seat

A terrified Uber passenger resorted to begging her allegedly high driver to let her take the wheel as he swerved across the road and drove with his eyes closed while a woman thought to be his girlfriend lay passed out in the passenger seat.

Outrageous footage, posted on WorldStar Tuesday, shows the male driver apparently asleep or barely conscious throughout the journey while the female passenger in the back seat tells him he is ‘scaring’ her and begs him to stop as she is a mother.

When the driver appears to regain consciousness later in the footage he seems baffled by news he had his eyes closed telling her ‘that’s weird’ and ironically takes to regaling his history of car crashes.

The video begins with a shot facing toward the driver and front passenger seats of the car, where the woman passenger is passed out with her head slumped in the gap between the two seats.

A caption on the video reads: ‘This Uber driver is high asf count yo mf days Uber.’

‘Are you falling asleep while you’re driving?’ exclaims the voice of the female passenger in the back seat.

The male driver, who is not wearing a face mask, turns toward her with his eyes half-closed and replies: ‘Nahhh.’

The passenger offers to take the wheel instead as she cries that he is ‘scaring’ her with his driving.

‘You need me to drive? I’ll drive. I’ll just drive the rest of the way – you’re scaring me,’ the passenger tells him.

‘You keep swerving and slamming on your brakes,’ she adds, pleading: ‘Come on I have a kid, bro.’

The woman’s voice grows quieter as she sounds visibly fearful: ‘You’re scaring me.’

The footage then cuts to later in the journey where the car appears to be driving through a residential area with houses visible through the front windshield as the passenger.

In the rear-view mirror, the driver is seen with his head resting against the headrest and his eyes fully closed as the passenger shouts: ‘Hey!’

The footage cuts again to later in the journey when the driver appears to have woken up and music is heard playing.

The female passenger tells him he had his eyes closed during the journey.

‘Your eyes were closed,’ she says.

The driver, who at this point has a face mask over his eyes but looped down under his chin, appears to be unaware of what has happened throughout the journey.

‘They were closed all the way?’ he asks her.

‘Yeh,’ she replies. ‘Like, they were shut. You were slumped.’

The driver responds that it’s ‘weird.’

‘I, I, I, I don’t understand that. That’s weird,’ he says, as the woman appears to laugh in disbelief.

The journey appears to continue with the driver, who seems more conscious, telling the frightened passenger his history of ‘multiple’ car wrecks.

‘I’ve been in like multiple car accidents so I understand – like – what it’s like to be in, you know -‘ he tells her.

The passenger is heard laughing at his attempt to quash her fears and asks if he was ‘driving the car’ in those instances.

‘Was you driving?’ she exclaims.

‘What? When I got in my last car accident?’ he asks, before telling her details which are muzzed out in the video.

His response seems to only concern the passenger more as she replies: ‘Oh god, you drive for Postmates?’

To which he responds: ‘Yes.’

It is not clear where the incident took place but Postmates, Uber’s US-based food delivery service, only operates in the US and Mexico City.
