While they started out strong, there’s already trouble in paradise for Married At First Sight‘s Johnny Balbuziente and Kerry Knight.
The newlyweds had a tense conversation on Tuesday’s episode after Johnny, 30, discovered Kerry had been messaging her ex-husband on their honeymoon.
As they enjoyed a seafood dinner together, Johnny asked Kerry, 30, how her ex felt about her coming on the show.

Kerry said her ex-husband had been ‘fully supportive’ of her decision to look for love on TV, before then revealing ‘he’s checked in’ with her to see that she’s okay.
Despite insisting it was a ‘superficial kind of chat’, there was a noticeable shift in the mood between Johnny and Kerry after her candid confession.
Talking to the show’s producers later on, Johnny admitted he’d been ‘rocked’ by the fact Kerry was still in contact with her ex-husband.

‘I can’t ever imagine having that with my ex and being on this experiment. I just can’t wrap my head around it,’ he explained.
‘I’m just being raw and honest right now. It sort of weirds me out a little bit. They’re talking about me.’
Johnny then asked Kerry if she’d be concerned if his ex-wife was messaging him, and she admitted that she would if he didn’t explain the situation to her.

‘I just feel that I put a lot of trust in you… Do you sometimes miss your ex?’ he asked.
‘I miss having someone there, but the reason I left was because there wasn’t a romantic connection to him anymore,’ explained Kerry after first taking a moment to think about her answer.
Kerry later admitted that she felt like Johnny was judging her and thinking she wasn’t ‘over’ her ex, which she described as ‘super frustrating’.

‘I thought I’d been pretty clear up until this point that you don’t end a marriage unless you’re 100 per cent sure, and it’s pretty disappointing, to be honest,’ she confessed.
Added Johnny: ‘Her ex is messaging her and asking how this whole experiment is going, while I sleep next to her at night. It makes me feel sick.’
After finishing their dinner in tense silence, Kerry then went to their hotel room to talk to Johnny about their earlier conversation.

‘You asked for honesty, so I’m trying to be fully upfront and honest, and I just felt the whole mood shift. I’m not sure which bit it was,’ she said.
Johnny told Kerry he was shaken by the fact she’s still talking to her ex-husband.
‘I feel like this experiment has pushed us to be really open with each other, and I’m starting to really enjoy your company, and starting to feel things for you,’ he explained.

‘It just sort of stumped me a little bit, and I think you just have to understand that it’s a little bit weird for me to hear that.’
Kerry reassured Johnny that she wasn’t sharing ‘intimate details’ with her ex, and insisted he was only checking in with her out of ‘concern’ for her wellbeing.
‘My ex is here supporting me to find a new relationship. I’m not sure why it’s met with any sense of doubt that I might not be over it. It doesn’t make sense,’ she later confessed.
