Rebel Wilson announces plans to steep behind the camera and take on her first ever job as a director next year

Rebel Wilson has announced her plans to take on her first ever role as a director.  

The 41-year-old actress made the announcement on her Instagram on Monday, revealing that she was feeling inspired to make the career move in 2022. 

Rebel shared a photo of a Hollywood Reporter article detailing how female directors broke the record for most Oscar nominations.

‘Biggest congrats ladies,’ Rebel wrote beneath the image. 

‘You’ve inspired me to take my first ever directing job in 2022.’ 

According to the Hollywood Reporter, directors Chloe Zhao and Emerald Fennell were both nominated in the best director category.

Zhao is also the first non-white woman to be nominated, the report claims.

Rebel looks to have a busy 12 months ahead of her. 

She revealed last month she was preparing to start filming and producing comedy movie, Senior Year. Her first since losing an incredible 30 kilograms.

According to Deadline, the star will appear and produce the film alongside Todd Garner and Chris Bender.  

The film is about a cheerleader who wakes up from a 20-year-long coma and returns to high school to claim the prom queen crown.

Meanwhile, the Hollywood star made 2020 her ‘year of health’ and has worked hard to overhaul her diet and fitness habits, losing an impressive 30kg.

In November, the comedian proudly announced on Instagram that she’d reached her goal weight of 75kg (165lbs or 11.8 stone).  

According to People magazine, Rebel’s remarkable transformation is partially down to following the Mayr Method diet plan.

‘It’s an approach that eliminates food intolerances, reduces sugar, encourages eating whole foods slowly, boosts the immune system and reduces inflammation,’ a source said.

‘She exercises with a personal trainer up to six times a week, goes on walks and is trying to up her protein intake nutritionally.’
