TROOP vocalist Reggie Warren dies at 52 at his Southern California home … after dealing with string of health issues that were not linked to coronavirus

  • They are with All I Do Is Think of You, Spread My Wings and Sweet November 
  • They were featured in 1991’s New Jack City singing Living For the City a capella 

TROOP singer Reggie Warren died at the age of 52 on Sunday at his home in San Bernardino County, California.

A rep for the group told TMZ that Warren was surrounded by family when he passed away.

The singer had spent time in a local hospital this past January, according to the outlet, amid ongoing health problems.

Warren was let out of the hospital on Saturday with medical officials expecting he would pass away soon, the rep said. His death was not linked to coronavirus, the rep said, as his family was not commenting further on the matter pending autopsy results. 

Warren was one of the group’s original five members with his friends Rodney Benford, John Harreld, Steve Russell and Allen McNeil. 

Warren’s TROOP colleague Steve Russell took to Instagram with a memorial for his fallen friend, writing, ‘Job well done my brother I will see you on the other side RIP Reggie Warren #DamnReggie’

HitBoy also dedicated a Grammy he received on Sunday to Warren, writing on Instagram, ‘Bittersweet moment for me. I’m dedicating this year’s Grammy for best rap album to Reggie Warren from the legendary R&B group troop who sadly passed away today.’

TROOP – which is short for Total Respect Of Other People – formed in the 1987 and was signed by the Atlantic Records label, releasing their self-titled album the following year.

Among their biggest hits were 1988’s Mamacita, 1990’s All I Do Is Think of You and 1992’s Whatever It Takes (To Make You Stay). Three of their singles reached the top spot on the Billboard R&B Singles chart, with 1990’s All I Do Is Think of You and Spread My Wings, and 1992’s Sweet November.

They were also featured in 1991’s New Jack City singing Living For the City a capella.
