The royal family of Luxembourg have shared adorable images of their youngest member Prince Charles to mark a national Easter tradition.

Appearing alongside his parents Prince Guillaume, 39, and Princess Stéphanie of Luxembourg, 37, the little prince delighted royal fans with his animated expressions in the new portraits.

In the snaps, shared yesterday, Prince Charles beamed towards the camera while wearing a pair of mustard dungaree shorts, teamed with a white top.

The images were taken for Bretzelsonndeg, the Easter tradition which sees people enjoy a pretzel to mark the halfway point of Lent in Luxembourg.

Looking the picture of happiness, a smiling Prince Charles sat on his father’s knee while his mother, Princess Stéphanie, leaned towards them both.

The royal mother sported a stylish burgundy jumper, paired with a blush blouse which featured a ruffle high-neck.

Her husband, Prince Guillaume, appeared equally smart in a light blue, V-neck jumper with a white striped shirt underneath.

Prince Charles could be seen holding on to a pretzel in the adorable snaps, which delighted royal enthusiasts.

One fan wrote on Twitter: ‘Those cheeks are everything… just adorable,’ while another commented: ‘an adorable family.’

Bretzelsonndeg, or Pretzel Sunday, marks the halfway point of Lent and traditionally sees a man buy someone a pretzel as a sign of his affection.

If the woman accepts the gift, she gives him a chocolate egg in return on Easter Sunday.

The Grand Ducal family have been charming royal fans with adorable snaps of the young Prince since his birth, at the height of lockdown in May.

Ahead of Christmas, Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stephanie released heartwarming pictures of their son enjoying his first Christmas tree.

‘The hereditary Grand Duke, Grand Duchess and Prince Charles wish you all excellent holidays, and take the opportunity of this magical moment spent together to share with you these new pictures,’ the Instagram post read.

The photographs showed little Charles reaching for baubles as his father and mother decorated their Christmas tree.

Another snap, taken outside, showed the happy family wrapped up for winter, with the young prince sporting an adorable grey beanie hat.

At the time of his birth in May, the young Prince could not meet his grandparents Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa because of social distancing measure put in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

But intimate pictures shared in June revealed the newest member of the grand ducal family had eventually met his doting grandparents.

Discussing the birth of his son back in May, Prince Guillaume said it was ‘probably the most incredible day that we will have in our life’, adding: ‘To be able to greet the child that comes into one’s life is the most magical thing, parenting, a couple can have.’

Photographs were then shared as the newborn met his grandparents the Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa over a video call.
