Mickey Guyton made history when she became the first Black female solo artist to earn a nomination in a country category at the Grammy Awards for her song — Black Like Me.
But come awards night on Sunday, the Texas native realized a dream come true when she performed during the 2021 ceremony held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
To mark the festive occasion, which was held under coronavirus-related restrictions, the singer stunned in a gold sequin gown.

Guyton’s very first Grammy Awards night began with a stint on the red carpet to showcase her full length number, which included a flowing train that followed across the floor several feet behind her.
The fitted piece hugged her womanly curves as she struck pose after pose for the adoring photographers.
Her ensemble was rounded out with a pair of matching gold earrings that dangled underneath her shoulder-length tresses.

Later in the evening, Guyton would live out her dream of performing at the prestigious awards show with a rousing rendition of Black Like Me, which speaks of the discrimination she experienced throughout her life as Black person and the recent Black Lives Matter movement.
For added texture and taste, Guyton was accompanied by a choir, cellist, pedal steel player, and pianist.
The song garnered the singer-songwriter her first-ever Grammy nomination for Best Country Solo Performance. But in the end, the trophy went to Vince Gill for his song — When My Amy Prays.
‘Although I didn’t win this Grammy, it truly is an honor and I will forever be a Grammy nominated artist. I love you guys,’ Guyton gushed afterwards in an Instagram post.
