Dawn French ‘has become obsessed with LEGO in lockdown after David Beckham admitted his unlikely love for the toy’

She’s known for cracking jokes as a member of the clergy in the hit series The Vicar of Dibley.

And Dawn French, 63, has reportedly picked up a new past time to get her through lockdown as she’s obsessed with building Lego.

A source told The Sun: ‘She [Dawn] loves playing with bricks. She can spend hours making small buildings. It is a very calming activity and she likes using her hands.’

Dawn’s close friend and fellow comedian Emma Kennedy, 53, also recently commented about the actress’ fascination with the toy.

‘Dawn is hooked, it’s weird! It is weirdly, weirdly super relaxing,’ she said.

And Dawn isn’t the only A-lister who has got into Lego in lockdown as ex-footballer David Beckham, 45, has also been spotted regularly playing with the building bricks.

The sportsman built a Lego version of his own fragrance Instinct back in May when he received the model as a birthday present.

He proudly shared his creation with his Instagram followers, writing: Pretty cool gift for my birthday..’

His wife, Victoria Beckham, 46, has often teased David about his playful hobby as she’s taking to social media to document the hours he’s spent building his creations.

Dawn’s new found passion for Lego comes after The Vicar of Dibley was listed in the line up of shows featuring in this year’s Red Nose Day programme.

The comedian will reprise her role of Geraldine Granger for a special message, rather than a full length episode.

Dressed in her dog collar, she will announce this year’s fundraising challenge to lip sync to her favourite song of last year, Juice by Lizzo.

Taking place on Friday, the fundraiser will be hosted by Alesha Dixon, David Tennant, Davina McCall, Paddy McGuinness and Dawn’s ex-husband, Sir Lenny Henry.
