Tina Arena ‘refuses’ to cancel her 2021 tour over Covid concerns and insists ‘we need to get on with our lives’

Tina Arena has revealed that she has no plans to cancel her new tour, and will take to the stage in May as planned despite Covid-19 concerns about indoor concerts.

Speaking to Stellar magazine this week, the songstress, 53, said she has confidence that it’s safe to go ahead.

‘I’m not cancelling my tour. I refuse to. I don’t feel it’s fair to work on a concert under the guise it may not happen. We need to get on with our lives,’ she said.

The Sorrento Moon hitmaker added: ‘I miss live music. I miss looking forward to something.’

Tina added that she believes there is hypocrisy in allowing sports events to continue while the music business has been largely shut down.

‘I just don’t understand why sporting events have been allowed to continue while major live-music events haven’t.

‘The states need to be more measured and proportionate in their responses to what we’re going through. You just can’t slam a border shut because someone’s sneezed. And I mean that respectfully,’ she said.

She will begin her first tour Down Under in three years at Brisbane’s Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 2.
