NRL star Tom Burgess says he’s ‘feeling much better with his girls’ as he shares a sweet selfie with his young family while recovering at home from a shock neck injury

NRL star Tom Burgess was rushed to hospital following a neck injury during a game with Melbourne Storm on Thursday. 

And on Friday, the South Sydney Rabbitohs pro told fans he was doing ‘much better’ after flying back home to recover.

The 28-year-old shared a sweet selfie with his young family, with his one-year-old daughter Sophie cuddled up to him as she held a stuffed toy.

On the other of the couch was his fiancée, model Tahlia Giumelli who cradled their four-month-old daughter Elodie.

He wrote in the caption: ‘Feel much better now home with my girls and the brace off, neck is stiff and sore but nothing serious.’

‘Thanks to all the medical staff who took the necessary precautions and looked after my best interests,’ he added.

The game was halted for almost five minutes due to club trainers’ concerns about Burgess’ neck as he laid on his back wincing in pain.

He was stretchered from the field and taken to hospital for X-rays as a precaution.

In an Instagram selfie from his hospital bed, the British-born athlete assured his followers he was ‘all good.’

Tahlia also took to her Instagram Story to share her gratitude to friends, family and fans for their concern for her beau.

Tom and Tahlia, who have been together for four years, announced their engagement in December 2019 on their three-year anniversary.

They welcomed their first daughter Sophie in August 2019, and second daughter Elodie in November 2020.
