‘We’re meant to be together’: MAFS’ most controversial couple Bryce Ruthven and Melissa Rawson praise experts and say ‘conflict around us actually strengthens our bond’

Bryce Ruthven and Melissa Rawson have quickly become one of 2021’s most controversial Married At First Sight couples.

Many devoted viewers have slammed Bryce as ‘toxic’ on social media, and urged his TV ‘wife’ Melissa to run away from him.

On Thursday, the couple hit back at their haters, telling Who magazine: ‘We were matched by the experts for a reason… we’re meant to be together.’

Bryce, 31, has copped endless backlash from fans online for his behaviour on Nine’s social experiment.

While the show’s most controversial grooms and brides are usually involved within an ‘affair’, Bryce has remained loyal to Melissa.

Bryce has instead been slammed for his dramatic outbursts with co-stars and his disrespectful behaviour towards ‘wife’ Melissa.

He ranked Melissa as the ‘fourth hottest’ on the show following a challenge early in the season, and later told his new ‘wife’ that she’s ‘not his type’.

‘We’re heavily invested in one another and we’re not too worried about what other brides and grooms – or anyone else, for that matter – thinks of us,’ Mel, who is shy and reserved on the show, told the publication of the backlash.

‘The conflict around us actually strengthens our bond… it’s beginning to feel a bit like us against the world,’ Bryce said in agreement.

Their comments come after an enraged Bryce threw a glass of water at Sam Carraro, 32, at Wednesday’s dinner party over comments the groom made about his private relationship with Melissa.

Sam questioned Bryce about his relationship with Melissa, and claimed that he had seen her crying on the balcony several times.

Former radio presenter Bryce called Sam a ‘compulsive liar’, threw a glass of water at him and stormed off.
