Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton are named co-hosts of the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards

Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton will co-host the upcoming 56th Academy of Country Music Awards.

The forthcoming ceremony will mark the second time the 53-year-old singer, who currently has 15 ACM awards to his name, has hosted the show; he previously hosted the 55th version of the event, which took place last September.

His 37-year-old future hosting partner performed at last year’s show, where Urban joined her on piano.

The You’ll Think Of Me singer gave a statement where he expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event and noted that he was excited to be sharing the stage with his former collaborator.

‘I’m beyond thrilled to be co-hosting with my friend Mickey,’ he said. ‘I love that finally everyone will get to see her infectious energy and uber creative spirit in full light.’

Guyton also gave her own statement to speak about her former musical partner and note that she was optimistic about the coming event.

‘Last year I had the opportunity to perform at the Academy of Country Music Awards with someone I long admired, Keith Urban, and this year I am incredibly excited to share hosting duties with him,’ the singer said.

She added, ‘It’s such an honor to step onto the ACM stage as the first ever Black woman to host the show…This is a moment of great significance for me and I am so thrilled to share it with all the fans.’ 

Urban is currently nominated for the award for Music Event of the Year for his collaborative single with Pink, entitled One Too Many; the musicians performed the song at last year’s event.

The singer-songwriter is also nominated in the same category for his work on the track Be A Light, which was written by Thomas Rhett and also featured Reba McEntire, Hillary Scott and Chris Tomlin.

Guyton has been put up for the New Female Artist of the Year award; she will compete with four other artists for the distinction, including Tenille Arts and Gabby Bennett.

In 2016, the Better Than You Left Me singer was nominated for the same award during the 51st iteration of the show; the award was ultimately taken home by Kelsea Ballerini.

She is also currently set to compete for the Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance; also nominated in the category are Miranda Lambert and Vince Gill.

The 56th Academy of Country Music Awards is set to take place on Sunday, April 18th, starting at 8:00 pm ET.

The awards ceremony will be presented from three separate venues: The Grand Ole Opry House, The Bluebird Cafe and the historic Ryman Auditorium.
