But Beck Zemek almost quit halfway through the experiment and returned home to Perth after learning her dog Oscar had fallen sick.

A friend told Daily Mail Australia that Beck, 27, was desperately worried at the thought of losing her pet and begged producers to let her travel.

‘Beck’s dog’s heart almost stopped and she was worried about losing him,’ they said.

According to the source, Beck’s ‘husband’ Jake Edwards offered to travel from Sydney to Perth with her, but producers wouldn’t let him leave.

The business manager was in Perth for just 24 hours. While she was there, she spent time with an ex-boyfriend, who helped her out.

‘Beck’s dog meant the world to her and she didn’t want to risk possibly losing him for someone who may or may not stick around,’ the friend added.

The news comes after Jake apologised to Beck on the show after he decided to go out with the boys following a difficult commitment ceremony. 

Beck confessed she didn’t feel supported by Jake, and explained to him why she was so upset about his decision to go out without her.

‘I need you to be here, and I feel like you don’t choose me.’ 

A remorseful Jake told Beck he was ‘really sorry’ for going out without her, and acknowledged that planning a boys’ night after a commitment ceremony wasn’t the best idea.

Married At First Sight continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on Nine
