There was also speculation that she introduced the quarterback, 37, and his fiancée Shailene Woodley, 29, who also stars in The Mauritanian.

Foster told reporters in the pressroom after her win: ‘I did not set up Shailene and Aaron Rodgers. I have never met him.

‘But it is possible I love to talk about how much I love the Packers and sometimes I can talk a little bit too much about them, so of course Shailene was aware of my enthusiasm for the team.’

She added: ‘Not only am I a big Packers fan, but I am the competitive MVP with Aaron Rodgers. I just got a very cute video from him where he says he is going to get me back. So we’ll see who wins.’

She said: ‘Seriously, I hope you’re not disappointed that there won’t be a big coming-out speech tonight because I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the Stone Age.

‘In those very quaint days when a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends and family and co-workers and then gradually, proudly to everyone who knew her, to everyone she actually met.’

Foster soon began dating Hedison, a photographer, director and actress known for her role in The L Word, and they tied the knot a year later in April of 2014.
