Diabetic James Norton, 35, reveals he’s been given the COVID vaccine

James Norton revealed that he received the COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, as he took to social media to document the moment.

The 35-year-old actor, who is in a high-risk category because of his type 1 diabetes, shared a snap of himself receiving the jab as he stated he was ‘happy and relieved’.

Captioning the image, he wrote: ‘As someone living with type 1 diabetes I’m happy and relieved to have had my Covid-19 vaccination earlier today (my tipple was AstraZeneca and I’m feeling great).’

The Happy Valley star concluded: ‘When you’re offered it I’d encourage you to do the same, not just for your sake, but more importantly for everyone else’s. You can find more info about type 1 and coronavirus on JDRF UK’s website…’

Just one vaccine shot reduces the risk of being hospitalised by COVID-19 by more than 90 per cent, according to new findings.

Public health officials have told ministers that the results apply for both the Pfizer and Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, with the British jab proving slightly more effective.

The Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency says more than one vaccine recipient in ten experiences some adverse reactions when given either of the two jabs currently in use in the UK (Pfizer/BioNTech and AstraZeneca).

However, the vaccine regulator added that the side-effects usually clear up on their own, or with over-the-counter pain medication such as paracetamol, in a few days. 

Grantchester star James confirmed his romance with actress Imogen Poots in May 2018, shortly after he split from his girlfriend of two years, actress Jessie Buckley.

James and Imogen took their relationship to the next level last year when she moved into his home in Peckham, south-east London.

A friend of the couple told the Mail On Sunday: ‘They have been dating now for two years but were getting tired of having a long- distance relationship.

‘James has been settled for a while in Peckham, while Imogen was splitting her time between London and New York. They are much happier with their new set-up.’

The couple met when they co-starred in the West End production of Belleville at the Donmar Warehouse in 2017.

They made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. 

James’ ex confessed that their break-up was ‘acrimonious’ – putting it down partly to the difficulty of dating a fellow actor.

‘We have broken up, yes,’ she said. ‘It was acrimonious, but it’s a tough job to have a relationship and he is a great man and we are great friends. That’s it. How diplomatic can I sound?’

Explaining the break-up, Jessie told The Times: ‘If you are away for a year filming, you are just not physically around at points.’
