Charlotte Dawson recalls her ‘dramatic’ labour when giving birth to son Noah

‘I was in floods of tears’: Charlotte Dawson recalls her ‘dramatic’ labour with son Noah and how she felt ‘like a failure’ when she couldn’t push anymore

She welcomed her gorgeous son Noah with fiancé Matthew Sarsfield at the end of January.

And Charlotte Dawson recalled her ‘dramatic’ labour and described her feelings of fear and being a ‘failure’ when doctors warned her she might have to have an emergency caesarean because her baby was distressed.

In an interview with New Magazine, the Ex On The Beach star, 28,  explained how doctors didn’t want her to go past her due date because of her gestational diabetes.

Emotional: Charlotte Dawson recalled her ‘dramatic’ labour during an interview as she spoke about being a mum to baby Noah

When she went for a sweep on her due date, the midwife told her she was 1cm dilated, but was concerned about her baby’s movements and said they might have to take action the following day- if she hadn’t gone into labour.

Charlotte said she did everything she could to bring the labour on after the appointment, including eating a spicy Nando’s and bouncing on her pregnancy ball

And at 4am in the morning, her waters broke.

But after being taken to hospital, the reality star described how an epidural had left one side of her body numb, while her son was distressed because she had been pushing for a few hours.

Charlotte said: ‘I was in floods of tears, I just couldn’t feel my pushes.’

Charlotte recalled how doctors told her they might have to do an emergency C-section but decided on a forceps delivery.

The assisted birth (also known as an instrumental delivery) is when forceps (large smooth metal instruments) or a ventouse suction cup are used to help deliver the baby.

‘I was signing my life away of these papers and the pain I was going through with these contractions, I couldn’t cope anymore’, she said.

‘I was shaking from the epidural. Next thing, I looked up and my legs were in stirrups. Three pushes and he was out.’

Charlotte went on to say how she felt ‘petrified watching all these needles going into me’ and felt ‘like a failure’ because she couldn’t feel anything, but all of it went away when Noah was placed on her chest.

It comes after Charlotte vowed to teach her baby boy about her late father Les’ memory in a moving clip from MTV’s Celebrity Bumps.

During the video, the reality star broke down in tears as she realised her son will never meet his late grandfather.

In the clip – filmed while Charlotte was still pregnant with her first child – the Ex On The Beach star spoke to her mum Tracy about her life with the late comic, who died in 1993.

In the clip, Charlotte, who was 27 weeks pregnant at the time, paid a visit to her mum Tracy to look at photos of her dad Les, so she can replicate them with her baby son.

The star also revealed she was going to tell Tracy the name she’d chosen for her baby boy as she counted down to the arrival of her bundle of joy with fiancé Matthew.

She announced: ‘We’re gonna call him Noah Dawson Sarsfield. The reason why we’re calling him Noah, me and Matthew were drunk four years ago, put the Notebook on you know that really romantic film. And he cried and I thought, “Matthew’s The One”.

‘And then the guy was called Noah on it, and I said ‘I love that name,’ and he said ”me too.” And he said ”if we ever have a little boy let’s call him Noah.” We’ve never gone off it.’

Charlotte’s mum said her dad Les would be ‘so proud’ of his daughter, with the reality star adding in a candid confessional: ‘I am so grateful for my mum because she’s just kept his memory alive so much.’
