Hugh Jackman wraps up in a quilted coat in New York City

Hugh Jackman is one of Australia’s most recognisable exports.

But on Monday, the actor kept a decidedly low profile as he stepped out for a stroll in his adopted home of New York City.

The 52-year-old wrapped up warm in a charcoal-coloured coat, which he teamed with a grey hoodie and a black beanie.

He wore a face mask and completed his look with khaki pants and Adidas sneakers.

The Wolverine star wore in-ear headphones and slowed down at one stage to read a text message on his phone.

He replied to the message and then continued his stroll around the neighbourhood.

Hugh has been based in the Big Apple for years with his wife, Deborra-lee Furness, and their two children, Oscar and Ava. 

But the Greatest Showman star is said to be contemplating a move back home to Sydney’s Bondi Beach, where he owns a $6million property.

‘Hugh has privately considered a move back for years, but he never followed through with it because he has such a good life in the States,’ a source told New Idea.

‘Besides his career, there’s a solid support network and he and Deb are now die-hard New Yorkers. They love the spirit of the Big Apple, plus the pace and excitement of being in a city that never sleeps.’

Despite this, Hugh is reportedly missing having the beach at his backdoor and still feels attached to the laid-back lifestyle in Australia.

He also wants to be closer to his extended family, and believes that moving back to Australia would give him the opportunity to boost the local film industry.
