Bam Margera hospitalized for a staph infection after weeks of troubling behavior

Jackass star Bam Margera was briefly hospitalized over the weekend to treat a staph infection.

The 41-year-old took to Instagram to share his ailment with fans – which he said ‘f**king hurts’ – and to thank a friend for taking him to the emergency room in a post early Monday morning.

Bam’s infection comes after the MTV star was kicked off of Jackass 4 last month following weeks of troubling behavior, including drunkenly ranting on social media and revealing he was ‘manic bipolar.’

Troubled: Jackass star Bam Margera was briefly hospitalized over the weekend to treat a staph infection, he revealed via Instagram early Monday morning

The reality star shared a photo from his hospital bed showing his infected leg. Angry looking red welts were seen around a new tattoo on Bam’s leg.

‘The only person I can blame for my staff [sic] infection,’ he wrote in the caption. ‘Thank you Danny way for taking me. I deserve it and it f**king hurts very bad.’

According to TMZ, sources close to Bam said that the star checked into the hospital over the weekend after ‘experiencing pain’ near the place where he recently got inked.

The insiders added that the infection most likely came from a dip he took in a hot tub. Luckily for Bam, things weren’t too bad, he is already home and expected to make a full recovery.

It’s been a difficult few weeks for Bam. He was fired from the upcoming Jackass film because he couldn’t abide by conditions set forth by the producers relating to his addiction issues.

The star reportedly broke his contract, which included conditions that he needed to follow in order to stay on the project, TMZ reported.

An insider revealed that the conditions included taking his medication, blowing into a breathalyzer, his commitment to staying sober, seeing a psychologist and routine drug tests during the project.

It is not know which of the conditions Bam reportedly failed to abide by, which led to the producers to inform him he wasn’t part of the Jackass 4 project anymore.

The outlet reported that from the start of the project, the filmmakers were worried about Bam’s addiction issues and erratic behavior, but that they wanted him to be part of the project from the beginning.

Prior to getting the boot, Bam had displayed some concerning behavior during a social media ran where he asked fans to boycott the film.

Bam was clearly inebriated in the video and returned to social media the next day revealing he is ‘manic bipolar’ and would be seeking treatment.

‘I have some good news,’ he said in a minute-long clip. ‘I realized that I’m manic bipolar, and yesterday I had to go so bats**t bonkers f***ing crazy because of not knowing the answer for a year and a half whether we’re doing Jackass or not … I had to deal with the madness to finally know the answer.’

Over the years the Viva La Bam star has struggled with alcoholism. He was hospitalized back in 2009 following several days of binge drinking and entered rehab for the first time later that year, staying only a few days.

His struggle with substance abused worsened following the death of friend Ryan Dunn in 2011.

Over the years Bam has unsuccessfully checked into various facilities to treat his alcoholism, often leaving before the completion of the programs.

The star enjoyed a brief seven-month period of sobriety in 2018 after getting a DUI but relapsed when he was robbed at gun point later that year.

'I have some good news,' he said in a subsequent social media clip. 'I realized that I'm manic bipolar, and yesterday I had to go so bats**t bonkers f***ing crazy because of not knowing the answer for a year and a half whether we're doing Jackass or not ... In 2019 he was kicked off of a Southwest flight after he drunkenly berated airline staff.

Just a few weeks later he was arrested in Los Angeles and charged with charged with misdemeanor trespassing for drunkenly refusing to leave a hotel after he was told there were no rooms available.
