The new trailer confirmed Jock and his fellow judges Melissa Leong and Andy Allen would return to the reality TV show after replacing long-standing judges Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston in the twelfth season.

After sharing the promotional video to his Instagram page, Jock was inundated with questions about the new season, and more specifically when it would air.

Jock, 44, decided to directly respond to some fans with a rough guideline of when the show would premiere, writing: ‘Around Easter I reckon.’

Easter is just four weeks away, as it falls around the first weekend of April.

With only seven teams remaining on Channel 10’s The Amazing Race, it’s likely as soon as the adventurous reality TV series ends MasterChef Australia will begin.

Despite having cooks who are not industry trained, Jock said in the promotional clip that the dishes served up on the new season are beyond restaurant quality.

‘As the season is progressing we’re seeing dishes that I’d be proud to have on my menu,’ he says in the footage.

Meanwhile, judge and former 2012 MasterChef winner Andy Allen said: ‘2020 was a year where people have really gone, “What am I doing with my life?” And I think that has brought these contestants to this place.’
