Adam Levine reveals that he plays music from early 2000s by Avril Lavigne for daughter Dusty Rose

Adam Levine revealed that he’s been playing old music by Avril Lavigne for his four-year-old daughter Dusty Rose.

The 41-year-old singer in an interview Wednesday with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe shared his affinity for pop-rock music and videos from the early 2000s.

‘It’s funny how you go back and rewatch like these old videos, and listen to these old songs, and I’ve been playing her a lot of Avril Lavigne records,’ said Adam, who also has a three-year-old daughter Gio with wife Behati Prinsloo, 32.

‘Like, dude, ”I’m With You,” that gives you tears. It’s crazy, because you don’t remember it in the same way, because you took it for granted. Because it was when you were growing up, and it was just part of what you had on the radio. But there’s some really great songs that I didn’t understand how good they were back then,’ Adam said.

Adam and Avril, 36, both released their breakthrough albums in June 2002 with Songs About Jane issued by Maroon 5 and Let Go put out by the Canadian singer.

‘I’m With You’ was the third single from Avril’s Let Go album and the ballad marked a departure from her previous pop-punk hits Complicated and Sk8er Boi.

Adam also revealed that Maroon 5’s new album is ‘done’ and teased that its release was ‘not far off’.

‘I’m going to tell you right now that the album’s done. And I can tell you it’s finished, I can tell you it’s been mastered, and I can tell you it’s been delivered, but I can’t tell you when it comes out. But it’s not far off, I’ll just say that,’ he said.

The Los Angeles native admitted 2020 was ‘a strange year to make an album’ and he struggled to get ‘fired up’ in the beginning, but once he started focusing on just writing songs, things took off quickly.

‘I couldn’t really be fired up the way I normally was. So I had to just kind of experiment and then try different things. And doing it all at home, and balancing everything with helping family out, and there were a lot more variables than I think,’ Adam told Apple Music 1.

‘…We’ve all been facing a lot more variables and unknowns over the past year, so it was a strange year to make an album. But once we got into the rhythm of it, it was pretty easy, because I just kind of immersed myself in it, and once I kind of got lost in the process of just continuing to write songs. And it was like that’s always how it is, man. Once you get started and the snowball rolls, it’s just you’re there,’ he added.

Maroon 5 also just dropped their collaboration Beautiful Mistakes with rap sensation Megan Thee Stallion and Adam hailed the ‘Savage’ hitmaker for bringing ‘a more epic kind of climax’ to the song.

He gushed: ‘I told her that when we finally met up, because obviously everything was done separate. And when we actually saw her in person, and we shot the video together, I told her. I was like the little break where you go to the melodic thing, to be honest, it actually shows this new kind of branch of what she does, and this new versatility that she’s going to show everybody right now. And I was so, I remember when I heard it, I was like, Oh, that’s big. That’s a side of her I had never really heard yet.’
