Paris Hilton slams ‘rude and chauvinistic’ men after uncomfortable 2011 interview resurfaces

Paris Hilton slammed ‘rude and chauvinistic’ men after an uncomfortable interview resurfaced from 2011.

The reality star, 40, said she felt ‘angry and disgusted’ as she saw a video of a radio interview on the now-defunct Opie & Anthony show which descended into awkwardness after Paris declined to discuss Lindsay Lohan.

Promoting her reality show – The World According To Paris – the beauty then became visibly uncomfortable as the interviewers cut her off when she spoke about ‘working hard for everything she has’ and accused her of being defensive before branding her ‘spoiled’ after she had left the room.

The star took to Instagram to say she felt ‘angry and sad’ watching the clip back and that she would ‘never’ put up with the behaviour again.

She said: ‘My friend just sent me the full interview. I didn’t even know that they were videotaping this, so this is the first time I’m seeing it.

‘I will never forget the feeling I felt in that room. It’s something I had to go through on too many occasions. It makes me so angry and sad to watch.

‘Sad that I had to continue to put on a brave face and be polite while hurting so much inside. And then at the end of the video to insult me and call me that after what they did to me?! ]

‘Unbelievable! I am strong and brave now and I will never put up with this again. And I hope by having these conversations it could be an inspiration to other girls & women to not stand for this.

‘And for the people behaving this way to be put in check and to help stop this from happening to anyone else.’

She also commented on the video when a fan account posted the clip, writing:  ‘Watching this makes me so angry and disgusted.

‘This is the type of rude, chauvinistic behavior that myself and so many other women have had to deal with and put up with for years.’

Her emotional post was quickly commented on by the star’s fiance Carter Reum who posted some hearts.

Celebrity pal Poppy Delevingne wrote: ‘Pathetic little men. They didn’t deserve to have you sitting in that chair’ while Vas Morgan wrote: ‘I’m so sorry you experienced this.’

The interview descended into chaos when she was asked about Lindsay Lohan’s behaviour, with the star saying: ‘I just came here to talk about the show, I don’t really want to talk about Lindsay.’

As the interviewers – Gregg ‘Opie’ Hughes, Anthony Cumia and Jim Norton, explained, she said: ‘Okay, let’s move on’.

She was asked if she was annoyed to which she responded: ‘It’s very early in the morning, I know I’ve been on a press tour all week.’

Jim responded: ‘I’m not asking a jerk question, it’s a legit question, I watched the show and liked the show. I think asking about your reality is fair game.’

The interviewers responded: ‘You’re a little tough one Paris. Some are easy and some are tough. You threw us a little with that little spinaround about the show thing.

‘We were just leading up to getting to know you a little more and about your life. I think you kinda took that in a weird way.’

She was then asked: ‘How does it feel to be so rich’ to which she responded: ‘I’ve worked hard for everything I’ve achieved and I thank God every day and I feel blessed.’

The interviews cut her off, saying: ‘Stop, stop, in what way have you worked?’ with Paris adding: ‘I run 17 different product lines, I’ve created my own business out of it.’

‘I’ve been working since I was 15 years old, my first job was as a model.’

Jim then asked: ‘Did you have a preconceived notion about coming in here, because people think we’re going to be aggressive with them or a certain way so they come in defensive?

‘You’re being very defensive, you’re sitting like this, we’re not trying to screw you over, we’re trying to help you promote the show but it’s a reality show, we’re asking you about life and you’re getting a little… so we could thought we could ask about your world.

They later said to Paris: ‘I don’t know if we sold the show, our listeners don’t like her.’

After Paris had left the interview, another employee came in and told the DJs, ‘I got the quote direct from her mouth, she said: “I am not going to sit and waste my time being berated”‘

‘One of her ladies in her entourage made a comment that she probably doesn’t feel like playing because she’s tired.’

The DJs respomded:’But we didn’t berate her. We weren’t playing, it’s a reality show, we have to get the people involved and listening to her story

;What a spoiled human being. I  bit my tongue for the show, if we hear one word of s**t from a publicist about her… ‘

Also on her podcast recently, Paris said she was still angry with comedian Sarah Silverman who famously trashed her at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, while she was sat in the audience.

Speaking on her This Is Paris podcast on Monday, alongside sister Nicky, 37, Paris said ‘It was so disgusting and cruel and mean.’

Paris had been due to check into prison hours after the awards for violating her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case and was mocked by Sarah.

Hilton said she had been nervous to go to the event, so when she was the butt of Silverman’s jokes it was intolerable.

And her sister Nicky has demanded that Silverman apologize to her sibling, 14 years on.

Detailing her version of events, Paris said: ‘I was so shocked and surprised because I had actually met her a few years before at an event and she was sweet.

‘I was obviously very nervous and knew I was about to check into a jail a few hours later, I put on a brave face and she literally pummeled me, so mean so cruel.

‘I was sitting there, wanting to die, I was holding back tears, I had tears in my eyes… I literally wanted to run out of the entire room. The whole audience was laughing and she would not stop.

‘It was so painful especially with what I was going through in my life, it was really hard.’

Sarah had said. ‘I heard to make her feel more comfortable in prison the guards are going to paint the bars to look like penises, I am just afraid she is going to break her teeth on those things.

Paris served three days of her 45-day prison sentence.

Nicky said: ‘Mom always told us you don’t know someone until you have walked a mile in their she’s and here Sarah was…. saying the most disgusting vile, awful hurtful things.’

‘I understand she is a comedienne and she is there to be funny and make people laugh, but when you have to put people down and insult people to get a laugh it’s not funny. I didn’t think it was funny then and I certainly don’t think it is funny now.’

She then gave examples of how other comedians get laughs without being cruel. ‘Look at Will Ferrell, he is funny but is not hurtful to others.’

Nicky then said, ‘Sarah really took the gloves off!’

Sarah recently apologized for poking fun at Britney Spears. At the MTV Video Music Awards in 2007 Sarah called Britney’s kids ‘mistakes’ and also put down her performance earlier that night.

During the podcast, Paris also criticized famous host David Letterman who kept asking her about her time in jail when she was on his show, even though her spokesperson had demanded he not do it.

In the interview, David repeatedly has asked Paris about her stint in jail after she had violated her probation by driving with a suspended license.

She had called her time behind bars a ‘really traumatic experience’, and was visibly uncomfortable with him.

Paris said: ‘I felt it was a safe place because I had been going on Letterman for so many years. I thought he would keep his word on this and he was wrong.

‘There was not supposed to be one question and he kept pushing me and pushing me. I was just getting so uncomfortable and upset.

She pressed on: ‘Nicky, you were backstage, I remember talking to you after and being up there.

‘It was like he was purposely trying to humiliate me and during commercial breaks I would look at him like, ‘please stop doing this, you promised me you wouldn’t talk about this and that’s the only reason I agreed to come on the show’.’

‘He was like okay and then again [brought it up]. It was very cruel and very mean. After it ended I looked at him and said I am never coming on this show again, that crossed the line.

‘I didn’t tell him off because I’m not that type of person, but I got angry and he was apologizing and sent a case of Chateau Lafite Rothschild wine to our house.’

Paris said unlike Silverman, she has since forgiven him.

She added: ‘I am so happy it’s different today, I would never wish what happened to me on my worst enemy.’

Nicky added: ‘You know what would not happen today is Sarah Silverman going on stage at the MTV Awards, and making disgusting, vile, perverted statements about pop stars, about people sitting in the audience.’

‘There were certain people they targeted. I would see that with myself, with Britney, Jessica Simpson. There was a certain type of girl they targeted that they’d never do that to a man.’
