Jimmy Nicholson has been announced as the new Bachelor for the 2021 season of the popular Channel Ten dating show.

But this won’t be the 31-year-old’s first time in front of a camera, as the former model previously enjoyed a short lived TV career on The Price Is Right.

The model-turned-pilot showcased prizes that were given away on the show in 2012 alongside host Larry Emdur.

Jimmy was also previously signed to one of Australia’s leading modelling agencies, Chadwick Models.

In 2014, the 31-year-old completed his training as a Regional Express Cadet Pilot and holds a Commercial Pilots License.

He previously told Year13, his was always passionate about becoming to a pilot as ‘it is a bit of a family tradition’.

‘My dad is a pilot, not a commercial one, but he worked for QANTAS and so did my grandfather. My uncle is also a pilot for another major international airline, so I grew up with it all my life. It’s a bit of a family tradition,’ he said.

Jimmy was most recently working as a first officer for airline Jetstar Australia but was stood down from his job amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Sydney Confidential, he decided to sign up for the dating series as he has struggled to find his perfect match over the years because he was ‘never in the same spot for too long’.

The eligible bachelor is of New Zealand and Fijian heritage, and has not appeared in any of the previous Bachelor franchises.

On Thursday, Jimmy told The Daily Telegraph’s Sydney Confidential he was pumped at the prospect of finding The One.

‘I am ready to open up my heart and meet someone,’ he told the publication.

‘I hope to meet someone with similar values that I can have fun with and that shares the same zest for life as myself.’

He added: ‘The Bachelor franchise has produced many success stories and I hope to be the next.’
