Melissa McCarthy says that she and her BFF Octavia Spencer had fun while filming the upcoming Netflix film Thunder Force: ‘We had the greatest time on set’
Melissa McCarthy has revealed that she and her BFF Octavia Spencer had a great time while filming the upcoming film Thunder Force.
The 50-year-old actress recently spoke to People and gave the publication a bit of insight into the enjoyable shooting process she went through for the forthcoming feature.
During the interview, the performer jokingly noted that the film will follow what she described as a ‘classic’ storyline.

‘Ya know, it’s your classic story — childhood best friends become estranged and then reunite after the super smart friend develops a genetically engineered technology that gives humans superpowers,’ the actress said.
McCarthy also commented that she was happy to have shared the screen with her 50-year-old costar and that they were grateful for their time together.
She remarked, ‘Working with someone you’ve known for over two decades is the best. We had the greatest time on set.’
The Bridesmaids actress then spoke about how she would never have expected to co-star in a film with her longtime friend.

‘I can’t believe two girls who waited in line for The Price Is Right 20 years ago got to run around in superhero suits…It felt like a fever dream,’ she expressed.
Spencer then spoke about McCarthy’s on-set attitude and why she was happy to have worked with her longtime friend.
‘She’s extremely talented, kind, funny, the first person to arrive and the last one to leave the set. It was a delight to do scenes with her because she always brought something different to each take,’ she noted.
The Hidden Figures actress also remarked that filming was occasionally difficult due to her costar’s affable and comical personality.

Spencer said, ‘It was difficult for me to not break character and laugh…sometimes, I just couldn’t help myself because there is only one Melissa McCarthy.’
Development on Thunder Force was first announced in March of 2019, with McCarthy’s husband Ben Falcone taking the director’s chair on the project.
The married couple also serve as producers on the film, with Falcone writing the screenplay as well.

Also set to appear in the upcoming feature are Bobby Cannavale, Jason Bateman and Pom Klementieff, among various others.
Principal photography on the feature began in September of 2019 and wrapped up in December of that same year.
Thunder Force is currently set to premiere on Netflix; although it is expected to arrive sometime this year, no release date for the film has been announced.
