Stacey Solomon describes fiancé Joe Swash’s proposal as ‘the best day ever’

Stacey Solomon has described her fiancé Joe Swash’s proposal as ‘the best day ever’ and was thrilled her children were there to witness it.

The Loose Women presenter, 31, got the surprise of her life when the former EastEnders actor, 39, popped the question, with the heartwarming moment caught on camera.

Appearing on Tuesday’s episode of The One Show, Stacey said: ‘It was the best day ever and I really wasn’t expecting it as you can see because I was in my slippers and my ugly Christmas jumper.

‘It really took me by surprise. I think the best part of it was that the boys were there and they cheered at one point, I only notice they cheered when I watched the video back. It was lovely.’

Stacey and Joe are parents to son Rex, 21 months, while she is also mother to Leighton, eight, and Zachary, 12, from previous relationships and Joe is also father to son Harry, 13.

Host Alex Jones warned Stacey not to lose her engagement ring, to which she replied: ‘Oh I won’t ever.’

Stacey also discussed her new book Tap to Tidy which gives readers tips and tricks for organising and crafting at home and came after the star shared her own crafting on social media.

Explaining how the book came about, she said: ‘What do you do when you’re at home with the kids? You tidy up after them.

‘To make it more fun for myself, I took a picture of the mess and after I tidied it and saying “tap to tidy” so you could tap the picture and it would tidy.’

Asked how she manages to balance motherhood with her TV career while also maintaining an expertly organised household, Stacey said: ‘I say this all the time on my stories, one cupboard could look nice but the rest of the house could look like a bomb hit it.

‘If I do have a moment to myself, I will just sit and make something because it makes me happy. When you have the kids and a job, you just find those moments wherever you can.’

Stacey has found crafting has helped to keep her anxiety in check, explaining: ‘Anything that gives you a distraction,  it’s been such a difficult year for so many people.

‘You’ve got to find those distractions wherever you can. Whatever it is that you enjoy, just finding those moments.’

It comes after Stacey revealed that her three sons will give her away with her father at her ‘small’ summer wedding to Joe.

Last month, Boris Johnson warned June 21 is the earliest possible date for full-size weddings but even then it will be subject to a review of the Government’s ‘four tests’.

The former X Factor star is hoping the tie the knot in July after her official wedding date was confirmed.

Stacey told Hello! magazine that they didn’t want to make just one best man and that she would like them all to walk her down the aisle alongside her father.

The presenter also admitted that if the ‘worst comes to the worst’ amid the pandemic restrictions, she will still marry Joe over the summer even if they only have a ceremony of six.

She said: ‘It’s going really well and I’m really enjoying it, I’m trying to stay as positive as possible. I know the reality of the situation is that we might not even be allowed to get married this year, let alone have the people that we want there.

‘But me and Joe have spoken about it. There are people in our lives who we don’t think we will, unfortunately, have much time left with.

‘So if worst comes to worst, and we can only have a wedding of six, then we will get married with those special people because it’s really important to us to have certain people there.’

Stacey added that they are planning for a ‘small’ wedding with another ceremony once ‘everything’s settled’.

The star admitted that they are waiting to see what the Prime Minister says about weddings before inviting more people.

She also shared that her Loose Women co-stars and pals, which include Nadia Sawalha, Jane Moore, Kaye Adams and Christine Lampard, will all be invited to her bigger ceremony.
