‘Everyone in my life is begging me to have kids’: Fleur East, 33, talks about the ‘pressure to having children’ while maintaining her career

Fleur East has opened up about the pressure to have children and give her parents grandchildren while achieving her work goals.

Following her father Malcolm’s passing last year, the Saturday Night Takeaway presenter, 33, disclosed their last discussion as she continues to try and make both her parents proud with her flourishing career.

She said to The Sun on Monday: ‘The last text conversation I had with him was after [Saturday Night] Takeaway and he said, “I just watched you and it was amazing”‘.

Because of that, Fleur – who came second on the 2014 series of X Factor – admitted that the ITV show led by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will always hold a ‘deeper meaning’.

Her mother Irene is also proud of her career accomplishments, but has hopes she will start a family with her fashion designer husband, Marcel Badiane-Robin, 32

She continued: ‘Everyone in my life is begging me to have kids. It’s got to that stage.

‘Me and my husband are really driven and doing a lot with our own careers. He’s into fashion and I’m doing 10,000 things at once.’

According to Fleur, they are sure they want a family but aren’t ‘putting pressure on it,’ even though their mothers are both desperate for grandchildren.

She added: ‘My mum isn’t a grandmother yet. She’s saying, “give me my grand-babies”.’

Last year, Fleur ticked another accomplishment off her career bucket-list when she appeared on Don’t Rock The Boat.

She struggled to contain her emotions as her team were finally crowned winners on the final episode and she dedicated the victory to her late father Malcolm, also known as Max.

Despite the Blue Team making up a huge amount of ground in the last leg of the race, it didn’t prove to be enough as the Reds rowed to victory after leading from the start.

After winning by one hour and 22 minutes, Fleur fought back tears as she admitted that thinking of her father helped keep her going through the competition.

She told hosts AJ Odudu and Freddie Flintoff: ‘This is honestly so incredible this year has been the lowest year of my life.

‘I was rowing for my dad and every stroke was for him so honestly it wasn’t about this race and honestly it means so much for me.’

Fleur’s dad passed away in March, with the singer paying tribute to him in a moving Instagram post when she vowed to dedicate all of her future successes to him.

She said: ‘You were always my biggest fan! Cheering me on until the end. You taught me and [sister] Keshia to be confident and to always chase our dreams.

‘I will forever continue to make you proud. I’m so happy you saw us achieve so much.’

Don’t Rock The Boat saw two teams of celebrities row the length of Great Britain from Cornwall to Scotland, facing gruelling conditions and various on-land challenges to see who would spend each night in luxury.
