Holly Willoughby pays tribute to frontline workers by flying an NHS flag outside her home… after backlash over her Union Jack decorations

Holly Willoughby has paid tribute to frontline workers by flying an NHS flag outside her home.

The TV presenter, 40, is said to have annoyed neighbours in the past by erecting Union Jack decorations – but didn’t let that deter her from flying a new flag that reads: ‘NHS – We thank you.’

The mother-of-three resides in a lavish six-bedroom Edwardian pad in London with husband Dan Baldwin and their children.

She has interviewed NHS staff and people who have been impacted by the pandemic and wanted to show appreciation for them, reports The Sun.

It comes after Holly and her TV producer husband angered neighbours back in 2017 by erecting a huge flagpole above their £3 million house.

The couple were accused of ‘lowering the tone’ of the conservation area Surrey neighbourhood by flying a Union Jack flag.

Speaking to The Mirror, a neighbour explained: ‘We don’t hang the Union Jack or St George flag outside our properties, so why should she?

‘It’s in one of the most desirable streets, we’re either Conservatives or Liberal Democrats in this area traditionally, not BNP.’

‘It’s not really becoming of the area. The house is one of the oldest in the neighbourhood, and has a prominent tower. It’s never had a Union Jack on it before.’

Holly, who is mother to Harry, 11, Belle, nine, Chester, six, was also said to have upset neighbours after their planning application for a two-storey building extension was rejected in 2016.

According to reports, their neighbours intervened, believing it would ‘compromise the character and appearance of the building’.

Additionally Dan is said to have sent around 50 emails assuring neighbours that he and Holly were watching TV on one occasion during the same year.

This came after a neighbour reportedly accused the couple of keeping them awake all night ‘with their partying’.

Last month, Holly shared a rare glimpse inside her private life, when she posted a throwback selfie of her and husband Dan Baldwin to mark Valentine’s Day.

The popular presenter looked loved up as she smiled for the camera alongside Dan, with the two posing on a beach.

Dan is a TV producer as well as the managing director of Hungry Bear Media, and has worked on many ITV shows including Through the Keyhole and Celebrity Juice.

He and Holly first met in 2004 on the set of children’s programme Ministry Of Mayhem, and began dating six months later.

Dan proposed to Holly in 2006 on the day they moved in together, and they tied the knot the following year in a lavish ceremony held at Amberley Castle in West Sussex.
