On Sunday night, Married At First Sight groom Patrick Dwyer decided to surprise his new bride Belinda Vickers with a bubble bath.

And it wasn’t long before the romantic gesture turned into a very awkward affair.

‘Maybe I’ll give you a little foot massage,’ he teased, staring longingly from the other end of the tub.

At that point, the personal trainer began tenderly rubbing Belinda’s dancer’s feet, stroking them up and down.

‘Oh, I love your feet. Very clean, I like the little pink toenails you’ve got on you,’ he said, before clapping her feet together.

Unfortunately viewers at home found it all beyond the pale and they rushed to Twitter to express their views.

‘Weird foot massage… Stop talking dude,’ commented one viewer.

Meanwhile, other fans appeared more concerned about the level of water in the bath

‘Why is the water so low in the bath?’ one wrote.

A second said: ‘Um that’s that’s the amount of water I have in the bath for my toddler.

‘Patrick has put more bubbles in there than water,’ said another.

Married At First Sight continues Monday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine
