Orlando Bloom reveals he sings songs with the word ‘dad’ in them to daughter Daisy Dove

Orlando Bloom has revealed he sings songs that feature the word ‘dad’ in them to his daughter Daisy Dove, six months, so that it becomes her first word.

The actor, 44, reflected on his family life with fiancée Katy Perry and their little one during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show that is set to air on Friday.

Joking about how he has been trying to trick Daisy Dove into referring to him first, he told Graham: ‘I sing and chant to her all the time. I constantly sing everything with the word “Dad” in it, so she says that word before anything else!’

Orlando and Katy welcomed their daughter into the world in August, and the singer has previously said he was a ‘huge support’ to her during the birth.

The actor also went on to talk about his new film Retaliation, which was released amid the coronavirus pandemic on July 24, 2020.

Expressing his delight that the film was released, he said: ‘It came out during COVID and I didn’t think it would see the light of day – I am so happy it has.

‘It is a very powerful story and I get the jitters when I talk about it. It is based on the writer’s own life and it was such an intense project I signed up immediately – I felt a calling to do it.’

Earlier this month, Katy spoke candidly during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, saying: ‘He was such a great support, we had like a little boombox.

‘He was there and he was so wonderful and just like holding my hand and looking into my eyes.’

Katy went on: ‘You want to film it but you also want to be present so there’s a fine line.’

Jimmy asked if Orlando filmed her giving birth so they could document the moment, and she said: ‘Yeah, he was great, I highly recommend it.’

The talk show host then jokingly asked if Orlando would be available to film other births, and Katy claimed ‘he should’.

Earlier this month, Katy revealed her struggle with going back to work after giving birth, during an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan.

Perry was joined virtually by her fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan to promote the newest season of American Idol – which is coincidentally hosted by Kelly and Ryan’s own Ryan Seacrest.

After just a few months as new parents, Katy told the daytime talk show hosts that she and fiance Orlando already have Daisy on a set schedule.

‘Yeah, of course there’s a routine,’ Katy said. ‘My daughter is a Virgo and she thrives in routine.’

Since the couple is absolutely smitten with their bundle of joy, as a first time mom, it wasn’t easy for Perry to go back to work so quickly after she had the baby.

‘I did start filming American Idol season 4 after I’d given birth, five weeks later,’ the singer explained. ‘And I didn’t plan that. But it was like, “Oh, my God!” It was so intense, you know?’

She added: ‘Giving birth, then going back to work and breastfeeding, like — holy crap! This is what women do? Oh my God!’

Orlando and Katy have been engaged since 2019 and intended to tie the knot this year in Japan, but have delayed the festivities on account of COVID-19.

Orlando also shares his nine-year-old son Flynn with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

The Graham Norton Show airs on BBC One, Friday 26th February 10.45pm. It will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
