Penny Lancaster reveals she went out to dinner HOURS after giving birth and getting stitches

Penny Lancaster shocked her Loose Women co-stars on Thursday, when she revealed she went out to dinner just hours after giving birth and getting stitches.

Making her first appearance on the ITV show since August, Penny, 47, left fellow panellists Charlene White, Nadia Sawalha and Judi Love speechless as she admitted to joining husband Rod Stewart at a restaurant shortly after the gruelling experience.

The former model – who shares sons Alistair, 15, and Aiden, 10, with the 76-year-old rocker – told how she left her mother at the hospital with her newborn shortly after welcoming her offspring into the world at around 4pm.

Recalling the moment, she said: ‘I gave birth about 4 o’clock in the evening, Rod had preempted and booked dinner presuming I’d be in hospital. But I thought, “Nope, I’m going to start as I means to go on” and I went for dinner with them.

‘Bare in mind I had stitches, and the nurses were really concerned. I said, “My brother is a paramedic.” We were just round the corner.

‘I was in euphoria for the few hours of giving birth. I had to sit with one cheek on the chair because of the pain, then my mum, who was at the hospital, called me and said, “Darling we need you back, your baby is crying for milk.”‘

As the show’s other panellists sat at table looking aghast, comedian Judi shouted in reaction to the unexpected tale: ‘My vagina is hurting!’

Meanwhile, shocked news presenter Charlene said to fellow mother-of-two Penny: ‘That is a dedication to your man on a whole different level.’

When asked if she had taken the time to put on makeup for the culinary outing, Penny admitted: ‘I don’t recall that, I was just in that euphoria – that glow, glow, glow, just so happy the baby was healthy – but then it all hit home and it was full-on.’

The British beauty – who appeared on the show remotely from home – then said, when quizzed on how she managed to sit through her meal: ‘I was on painkillers.’

After prodding from Charlene, Penny also revealed that ahead of giving birth to her eldest son, she got a plaster cast done of her body – just as her waters had broken.

Rather than cancel her appointment, she went ahead with it before promptly making her way to the hospital to give birth.

The conversation came about when the panellists discussed whether parents-to-be should enter ‘baby contracts’, where they discuss ahead of time who should take on particular tasks in raising their child together.

And Penny revealed that her husband had a few requirements as they prepared to start their own family.

She said: ‘Having had the experience of having a past with children and mothers, he brought some wise words to the hospital along with our paediatrician.

‘While I was pregnant, he said, “Darling, the one thing I’m worried about is getting pushed out of the picture, please don’t neglect me.”

‘I said, “Darling, I won’t do that.” So I made a very conscious effort to make sure he didn’t feel left out.

Rod also stated that he didn’t want the baby in their bed, as she explained: ‘I thought that was acceptable. When you’re living with someone you can’t make compromises

‘It makes sense to have a little gentle pathway about who is going to be responsible for what.’
