It was recently reported that the newly-single Melissa is being considered for The Bachelorette.

According to New Idea, channel 10 believes the 40-year-old could help revitalise the dating show after viewers were left underwhelmed by sisters Elly and Becky Miles last year.

‘Melissa is on the top of their wish list and is already adored by the network,’ an industry insider said.

‘She’s smart, funny and articulate, and gave new life to MasterChef. They want that same success on The Bachelorette.’

If she does take on the role, Melissa would be Australia’s oldest ever Bachelorette, as well as the first Asian woman to front the dating franchise.

The speculation comes just months after Melissa announced she’d split from her husband, bar owner Joe Jones.
