A Week Away trailer finds Bailee Madison and Kevin Quinn falling for each other

A misguided young man and a seemingly-perfect young woman start to fall for one another at a unique camp in the first trailer for Netflix‘s A Week Away.

Kevin Quinn plays Will Hawkins, a troubled teen who is forced to choose between juvenile detention or a Christian summer camp.

He chooses the latter, where he meets Avery (Bailee Madison) and opens his heart as he finds a sense of belonging in the place he least expects it.

The trailer opens with one of the camp employees (Sherri Shepherd) giving the camp owner (David Koechner) the file on Will Hawkins.

Meanwhile, Will is on the bus to camp with a bunch of happy-go-lucky church kids, as he tells his friend (Jahbril Cook), ‘You didn’t tell me this was a church camp.’

Right when he gets to camp he’s not feeling the vibe, as his friend has to drag him in, before he starts talking with the owner, after noticing the name of the camp on his shirt: Camp Aweegaway.

‘Every once in awhile, somebody is just a week away from an experience that changed everything for them,’ the owner explains.

Will then introduces himself to Avery, and during a nightime campfire, he asks his friend what her ‘story is.’

‘She’s way out of your league, trust me. Her dad owns the place,’ the friend says, which Will responds, ‘If I’m gonna fit in here, I have to be something I’m not.’

Before some sort of activity, Avery playfully says, ‘Good luck, Will. You’re gonna need it,’ before we see a medley of activities like tug-o-war and a cake eating contest set against a few song and dance numbers.

Will’s friend seemingly pokes fun at being in a musical, adding, ‘Was the singing too much?’ as Will responds that’s what ‘got’ him.

Will and Bailee have some alone time in the woods, when Will mentions that she is perfect, though she adds, ‘I’m, like, trying to be what everybody expects me to be. It is exhausting.’

They have another song and dance number on a dock, as Will adds, ‘It’s been so long since I felt so connected.’

At some point, Will runs away from the camp, as someone tells Avery that Will isn’t, ‘who he says he is.’

Avery finds Will on a road leading out of camp, as he tells her, ‘You don’t know anything about me.’
