A meal kit delivery firm has apologised after a customer was sent a bottle of urine with his order.

Oliver McManus received his delivery of HelloFresh groceries on Sunday morning but was left stunned when he found the bottle of Coca Cola filled with a yellow liquid.

On Twitter, Mr McManus, of Bournemouth, asked @HelloFreshUK: ‘I’ll keep it simple: Why have I received someone’s bottled-up p*** as part of my order?

‘Look forward to your response on this one.’

On Twitter, Mr McManus, of Bournemouth, asked @HelloFreshUK: ‘I’ll keep it simple: Why have I received someone’s bottled-up p*** as part of my order?’

He added: ‘I’ll send it to you and you can have a whiff in case you’re sceptical.’

Mr McManus added that the box wasn’t sealed properly and the bottle was ‘just sort of nestling on the top’.

He told The Independent: ‘The last thing I would want is for anyone to get sacked or in trouble as a result of this incident. It is unfortunate that it happened but I’m sure it raises some wider questions about working conditions in the UK.’

A HelloFresh worker called Harry replied: ‘We truly lack the words to describe how sorry we are because of this.

‘Could you please send us a DM so we could deal with this as soon as possible?’

Set up in 2011, HelloFresh is loved by celebs including Jamie Oliver and Jessica Alba.

It operates in 12 countries, sending healthy-eating recipe boxes to customers via an app. It’s one of the biggest meal-kit firms in the world and thought to be the most popular in the US.

A HelloFresh spokesman said: ‘We are truly horrified and sorry that the customer received the offending item.

‘Given the wholly unacceptable nature, we have investigated this situation and found that the box left our facility fully sealed, having passed all internal checks.

‘We are urgently investigating how an open box with this bottle in it was delivered with our delivery partner.

‘We have apologised directly to Mr McManus and offered an appropriate good will gesture. We are working hard to do everything we can to ensure that this cannot happen again.’
