Channel Nine announces severe penalties for Instagram trolls ahead of the Married At First Sight season premiere – as ‘offensive or personal attacks’ on the stars are BANNED
Channel Nine has released a ‘message of love’ ahead of the new season of Married At First Sight, reminding viewers that online trolling will not be tolerated.
The network announced on Monday that abusive comments about the new brides and grooms on social media will result in users being immediately blocked.
‘We all love watching MAFS and following the journey of the participants in Australia’s biggest social experiment,’ began a statement on the official Married At First Sight Instagram account, which has 365,000 followers.

‘So let’s celebrate our couples, support and encourage them,’ it continued.
‘Comments on the official MAFS social accounts are moderated, and any that are offensive or personally attack participants or fellow MAFS viewers will not be tolerated.
‘Anyone who continually breaches the community guidelines will be blocked.’
Interestingly, all of the new Married At First Sight participants already have their comments disabled on Instagram.

Past contestants have had their fair share of negative comments on social media.
Many Australian stars are even reliving the experience, as British viewers watching the 2019 season for the first time react to the events playing out on screen.
Ines Basic was recently left fearing for her life after being trolled by critics in the UK.
Both her Instagram and YouTube accounts were flooded with nasty comments earlier this month, with one troll even calling her ‘a fake delusional narcissist’.
Countless viewers pointed out Ines’ treatment of her on-screen husband Bronson Norrish, whom she cheated on during the experiment.

She recently admitted she was terrified to visit Britain because of the backlash.
‘I’ve always wanted to go to England, but I don’t know if I ever will now as I might get f***ing stabbed,’ she told The Sun newspaper.
‘I want everyone to know I’m a really nice girl, at the time I was just close-minded and it was all filmed two years ago. I couldn’t even be that person again if I tried.’
