Iskra Lawrence reveals she hasn’t had water for a WEEK after outages in Texas

Iskra Lawrence has revealed she’s been without running water for a week following mass outages in Texas.

The model, 30, took to Instagram on Sunday to reveal her house ‘stinks of un-flushed toilets and dirty dishes’ and her baby son ‘won’t stop crying with teething pains’ after facing issues with her water supply in the wake of devastating snow in the state.

In a lengthy post Iskra said she still feels ‘lucky’ as she has access to electricity and gas at a time when many have been forced to go without, offering her support to others who are struggling.

Sharing two images from a recent photo shoot, Iskra, who lives in Texas with boyfriend Phillip Payne and their son, updated fans on her water issues after thousands faced problems with their supply.

She wrote: ‘Still no water…thank you for all the messages and ❤️ I’ve not been online to reply because tbh I’m feeling overwhelmed.

‘Not by having no water all week, but my poor baby is literally crying 24/7 with teething pain and it’s a lot.

‘I also have never felt so disgusting from not bathing all week, having the stench of un-flushed toilets days on end and a house full of dirty dishes (started hiding them in the oven out of sight) and well you can imagine the laundry.’

Iskra said that despite being without water she’s still grateful to have access to other basic necessities, adding it’s reminded her how ‘privileged’ she is to have running and water when million don’t.

She continued: ‘However we are the lucky ones and I always get back to a place of gratitude because even though we may not have water still we have power and gas and enough food to get by.

‘In a weird way I wish I had experienced this sooner to fully grasp the privilege I have of always having lived somewhere with clean water and power when over 10% of the worlds population don’t have either

‘My heart goes out to all those going through it in Texas right now and the rest of the world. And not sure if any of you may see this but thank you to the best neighbours for lending us buckets to collect water and offering food. We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but on our little street.

‘I’ll continue to share resources and please tag me so I can re-post and help raise awareness of warm shelters, food banks and charities to support! Hope you can’t smell me through the phone.’

Several hours later Iskra took to Instagram Stories to share an image of public handouts of free drinking water in her local area, as thousands struggle to get their supply back following the snow.

On Wednesday the model first revealed she’d been without a water supply for several days, sharing another glamorous snap from a recent shoot alongside the candid caption.

She wrote: ‘My prayers are with all my people here in Texas. Already too many lives have been lost in this storm.

‘Once again I feel saved by my privilege living in an area of our city that still has power, gas, we currently don’t have water and the water is now apparently contaminated.

‘We have enough food to get through the rest of these days locked in because of the extreme weather, but many do not. I have friends with young children in freezing homes with no power.

‘Please if you know any church drives, or charities that are delivering emergency supplies and food I can support please comment below I’ll be sharing links in my stories as I find them.’

On Saturday, warmer temperatures began to spread across the southern US bringing relief to a winter-weary region that faces a challenging clean-up and expensive repairs from days of extreme cold and widespread power outages.

In Texas, where millions were warned to boil tap water before drinking it, the warm-up was expected to last for several days.

The thaw produced burst pipes throughout the state, adding to the list of woes from the severe conditions.

The storms left more than 300,000 still without power across the country on Saturday, many of them in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

In many areas, water pressure dropped after lines froze and because people left faucets dripping to prevent pipes from icing, authorities said.

As of Saturday, 1,445 public water systems in Texas had reported disrupted operations, said Toby Baker executive director of the state Commission on Environmental Quality. Government agencies were using mobile labs and coordinating to speed water testing.
