Savage X Fenty was founded by the Only Girl (In The World) songwriter in 2018 with the intention of manufacturing lingerie that would be inclusive of all body types.

The brand’s major debut was at New York Fashion Week in the year of its founding; its showcase received positive attention for its inclusion of several plus size models in its promotional materials.

The singer first trademarked the Fenty name in 2014 with the intention of using it for various future ventures.

Rihanna’s initial foray into the fashion industry came in 2017 with the launch of her brand Fenty, which operated under the guidance of luxury goods group LVMH.

The line’s first pop-up store opened in 2019, and an online shop was launched that same year.

However, Fenty announced that it would be suspending its business activities indefinitely earlier this month, with its website likely set to cease operating in March.

The hitmaker has also expanded her creative vision into other areas of the fashion industry, as evidenced by the 2017 launch of her cosmetics company, Fenty Beauty.

Rihanna had previously made a venture into makeup through a collaboration with Mac Cosmetics; the products were initially released in 2013.

Fenty Beauty has been the subject of critical attention for its wide variety of shades that were made available upon its launch.

The brand earned an impressive $72 million in its first month of wide release.

In July of last year, Rihanna expanded her creative vision with the launch of her skin care brand, entitled Fenty Skin.

The Disturbia singer founded the branch of her fashion house with the intention of creating products that reflected the combination of materials that she used in her own skin care procedures.

Last September, the songwriter spoke to Vogue and remarked that the designers behind Savage X Fenty were especially focused on making its customers feel good, regardless of their body type.

‘We always want to include women who haven’t felt sexy by society’s terms and expectations,’ she noted.

During the interview, Rihanna also pointed out the line’s focus on catering to a wide range of customers.

The hitmaker stated, ‘It’s always about being inclusive…I don’t care about size, shape, or color; I embrace all types of women.’
