Britain’s latest coronavirus deaths include 16-year-old with no underlying health conditions

  • NHS England said 307 people who tested positive for Covid had died in hospital
  • Patients were aged 16 to 100 with all except four having underling conditions
  • This brings the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 81,046

A 16-year-old with no known underlying health conditions is among the latest reported deaths of people who have tested positive for coronavirus in England.

NHS England announced earlier today that another 307 people who tested positive for coronavirus had died in hospital.

This brings the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 81,046.

The patients recorded in today’s figures were aged between 16 and 100 and all except four – aged between 16 and 68 – had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between January 12 and February 19.

The latest statistics come just one day after figures showed a 13-year-old without known underlying conditions had also died.

In those figures, the dates of death ranged from April 18 last year to February 18 this year.

Other young victims of the pandemic in the UK include Ismail Mohamed Abdulwahab, who died in March last year aged 13, with no known underlying conditions.

And a 13-day-old baby, thought to have no underlying health conditions, was reported to have died with Covid-19 by NHS England in June.
