As a teenager, Chloë Sevigny made her acting debut as part of a music video for Sonic Youth’s song Sugar Kane, which was shot in 1992.

Fast forward some 29 years and the one-time ‘It Girl’ was spotted sharing the spotlight during a photoshoot with the legendary alternative rock band’s singer, Kim Gordon.

The pair looked like they could be sisters as they posed side-by-side, sporting their unique sense of style, along the side of a suburban street in Los Angeles on Thursday.

The Boys Don’t Cry actress, 46, was the picture of vintage store chic in a long dark brown skirt, that was worn over pants, and a light brown shirt with 1979 written in the front.

Her pants were cuffed enough to showcase her thick off-white sock and her light pink sneakers.

For an added touch of funky, she donned retro 1970’s green sunglasses and had her shoulder-length blonde tresses style long and straight with a part in the middle.

Gordon, 67,  was similarly styled in a light blue-patterned dress over red pants with a light brown furry jacket.

The Kool Thing frontwoman also wore her blonde locks long, only she had short bangs and a partial center part.

She rounded out her ensemble with a pair of white sandals, a light brown purse and on occasion she wore black sunglasses.

Ahead of her successful career as an actress, Sevigny got her start as a model at the age of 17 for Sassy magazine and X-Girl, which was the subsidiary fashion label of the Beastie Boys’ X-Large, designed by Gordon.

That would lead to Sevigny’s role in Sonic Youth’s Sugar Kane, complete with a stylish pixie hairstyle. It was that role and her appearance in The Lemonheads’ music video for Big Gay Heart that helped her earn the ‘It Girl’ status.

By 1995, the Massachusetts native made her debut in the coming-of-age film Kids, which earned her critical acclaim, and led to many more independent films, including Boys Don’t Cry (1999), American Psycho (2000) and Party Monster (2003).

To more mainstream fans, Sevigny is best known for playing Nicolette Grant in the HBO series Big Love from 2006 to 2011, and she most recently starred in the HBO drama series We Are Who We Are, which premiered in September 2020.

Sevigny became a mother for the first time last year, when she gave birth to now nine-month-old son Vanjay, whom she shares with her partner Siniša Mackovic.
