Reese Witherspoon chats with co-star Julianna Margulies between takes as they film The Morning Show

Reese Witherspoon and her new costar Julianna Margulies were hard at work on Wednesday as they filmed a scene for their Apple TV+ series The Morning Show.

The 44-year-old Legally Blonde star was spotted out in a courtyard with the Julianna as they had a brief conference between takes.

Reese, who plays a newly instated co-host on a fictional morning news show for the series, looked the part with a classy navy blue blazer and black slacks.

She had her arms crossed to guard against the breeze, which whipped back her delicate blonde locks. 

Julianna was dressed more conservatively in a long black overcoat and had her raven tresses tied back in a bun.

The 54-year-old ER star joined The Morning Show for its second season in a recurring role as the news anchor Laura Peterson.

Also joining the series this season will be former Daily Show correspondent Hasan Minhaj, along with High Maintenance and Russian Doll actress Greta Lee and Irish actor Ruairi O’Connor. 

The Morning Show’s first season began with one of the lead anchors (played by Steve Carrell) being fired from the program for sexual harassment.

Jennifer Aniston stars as his co-host, Alex Levy, who tries to take over the dominant position on the show, while Reese stars as the risk-taking field correspondent Bradley Jackson, who is bumped up to co-host to fill the empty spot.

Now it seems the two women will also have to contend with a power struggle from Julianna’s character at the fictional UBA network.

Reese has expanded to producing in recent years, even for projects that she doesn’t appear in, like the critically acclaimed Ben Affleck–starring thriller Gone Girl, and both she and Jennifer are executive producers on the series. 

Julianna is best known for her long-running role on the iconic medical drama ER, which she starred on from 1994 to 2009.

Although she has had a series of film roles since then, her biggest post-ER role was the title character in the CBS legal drama The Good Wife, which 2009 to 2016 and also launched the spinoff The Good Fight.

In December, she posted a masked selfie from a set and asked if her fans if they could ‘tell what set I’m on,’ with several correctly guessing that she was on The Morning Show set. 

Reese carried on a busy Wednesday, as she fit in time for a hike in Los Angeles with a friend in addition to work on her streaming series.

Earlier in the day, the Academy Award winner luxuriated in some of the new offerings from Beyoncé’s Ivy Park clothing collection, which she had shipped to her friend.

The actress posted a humorous photo of herself sitting inside the massive box that had previously housed her golden brown puffer coat.

Reese had tried on the coat and then decided to sit inside the box with her adorable black-and-white French Bulldog Minnie Pearl guarding her from a prime spot on her lap.

‘I’ll be here all day…’ she captioned the snap. ‘Thank you @beyonce for my new home office and my awesome new gear!’

She and Beyoncé became fast friends after the Golden Globes in January 2020, when she went over to the singer’s table to ask to have some of her husband Jay-Z’s champagne after her table ran out of water.
