Real Housewives of Miami reboot is in development at the Peacock streaming service

Almost exactly a decade after it first debuted, Real Housewives of Miami is getting the reboot treatment.

The Peacock streaming service, which is owned by Bravo’s parent company NBCUniversal, announced the Real Housewives of Miami reboot on Wednesday.

No cast members have been announced at this time, though the announcement revealed this reboot is happening, ‘after much fan demand.’

The Real Housewives of Miami debuted on February 22, 2011, with the first season featuring Lea Black, Adriana de Moura, Alexia Echevarria, Marysol Patton, Larsa Pippen, and Cristy Rice.

The second season added Joanna Krupa, Lisa Hochstein, Karent Sierra and Ana Quincoces to the cast, as Echevarria became a ‘friend,’ devoting more time to her son who was injured in a car accident.

The third season brought Echevarria back, and featured Krupa’s marriage to Romain Zago, but it was the show’s last, becoming only the second Real Housewives show to be canceled, following The Real Housewives of Washington D.C., which lasted just one season in 2010.

Interestingly enough, the D.C. show was given a soft reboot, of sorts, when Bravo launched The Real Housewives of Potomac in 2016, which executive producer Andy Cohen described as, ‘D.C. adjacent.’

The Real Housewives of Potomac aired its fifth season this past fall, though it has yet to be renewed for a sixth season as of yet.

This will seemingly be the first Real Housewives show to debut exclusively on Peacock, with the rest of the franchise airing on Bravo.

While no cast members were announced, Andy Cohen will serve as executive producer, as he does on all of the Real Housewives shows.

Purveyors of Pop will produce the series with Matt Anderson, Nate Green and Cooper Green serving as executive producers.

It’s unclear if casting for the reboot is already under way, or when Peacock may be eyeing at aiming the reboot.
