Marlon Brando’s ‘very pleasant’ former Hollywood Hills home goes on the market for $4.295M

The four-story Laurel View Drive home in West Hollywood rented by two-time Oscar winner Marlon Brando back in 1954 has gone on the market for $4.295M.

The neo-Gothic single-family residence was originally built in 1926 and designed by famed architect A.F. Leicht, according to the Compass real estate listing.

The 4,363-square-foot abode features four-bedrooms and five-bathrooms and it’s located a half mile above the Chateau Marmont on the Sunset Strip.

In fact, it was the 270-degree jetliner views of city lights and ocean that persuaded the method acting legend to rent the property in the first place.

‘It’s a very pleasant place to live and I enjoy it very much,’ Marlon told Edward R. Murrow on CBS’ Person to Person in 1955.

‘It’s awfully nice to go out here in the evening and have dinner at this sort of little nook here, especially on warm nights when the desert wind comes up over the hills.’

From the buttresses, visitors can even view neighboring architectural masterpieces such as Frank Lloyd Wright’s Storer House and Charles Kyson’s De Witt mansion. 

The two-car garage is detached and, sadly, there is no swimming pool at the impressive abode – which also housed triple-threat Ann Miller back in the 1940s.

The kitchen has been newly renovated and residents can eat in the formal dining room that seats up to 20 people or the charming breakfast nook.

Brando died, age 80, in 2004 of respiratory failure from pulmonary fibrosis with congestive heart failure.

The twice-divorced father-of-11 is best remembered for his roles in films like A Streetcar Named Desire, On the Waterfront, The Wild One, The Godfather, and Apocalypse Now.
