Celebs Go Dating FINALE: Viewers SLAM Curtis Pritchard for ‘leading women on’

Celebs Go Dating: The Mansion drew to a close on Thursday night – with one particular moment setting viewers into a spin on Twitter.

The episode saw all the celebs and their respective partners taking part in a ‘Commit Or Quit’ ceremony, which took place in front of all the other contestants.

Mostly it was a pleasant affair, with the pairings gushing over one another and agreeing to continue seeing each other romantically on the outside world.

How awkward! Celebs Go Dating: The Mansion drew to a close on Thursday night with Curtis Pritchard humiliating his date after she told him she’d like to keep dating him

But Curtis Pritchard humiliated his date after she told him she’d like to see him again.

Stood before the others – and under the watchful eye of dating experts Anna Wlliamson and Paul Carrick Brunson – ex-Love Islander Curtis, 25, told his other half that he wanted to ‘stay single and focus on himself’.

His crestfallen date looked devastated but insisted Curtis was better off being true to himself.

Fans of the show were less forgiving, taking to Twitter to slam the pro ballroom dancer.

‘Why did Curtis go into the mansion if he wanted to commit to himself?’ one person tweeted.

A second penned: ‘Lads like Curtis are the worst, joins a dating agency but what’s to focus on himself! Get out man!’

‘Can’t stand Curtis – why go on a dating show if you want to stay single?’ posted another.

A fourth penned: ‘So you went into the mansion looking to find the one and then decided you are the only one for yourself!’

Another seethed: ‘Curtis is disgusting, leading girls on constantly and using people for fame!’

‘Curtis better be banned from the agency after that – the bloke wasted a bed for 3 weeks!’ came another remark.

Some cut Curtis some slack, however, with one viewer posting: ‘Fair play to Curtis for actually telling the truth. It would’ve been so much easier to have said ‘yes’ in the situation!’

Another agreed: ‘Tbh I’m pretty proud of Curtis for being able to stay true to himself there!’

As the series wrapped up, Curtis insisted he needed to ‘love himself’ before being able to ‘love someone else’.

He also expressly referred to his ‘ex-girlfriend’ as a ‘cheat’.

While it’s no secret that the pair were surrounded by infidelity rumours, Curtis is reasserting this as part of the new Channel 4, which sees celebs team up stand-up comedians to deliver their own routine for cancer charities.

The Sun reports that one line from Curtis’ scathing routine is: ‘[Smooth whisky] is trusting… the flavour will never cheat on you. Unlike my ex girlfriend!’

Speaking about how he once worked in a dog kennels, Curtis says in the routine: ‘Looking back now it reminds me of Love Island because when the dogs are in season they go crazy, there was b*****s running around left, right and centre.

‘They were trying to ride each other non-stop, it was wild.

‘You’ve got all these different shapes and sizes in front of you, take it for a spin, take it for a test drive and if you don’t like it, you send it back.’

Defending the low-hitting quips, Curtis said: ‘Comedy’s meant to be edgy, pushing the boundaries and, at the end of the day, it’s meant to be just good fun and enjoyment for everyone that’s going to listen.’

He was accused of cheating on Maura with Amber Pierson, while Maura was accused of romancing her Dancing on Ice partner Alex Demetriou during her stint on the show in 2020. Alex and his wife even split amid the drama.

Curtis, Maura and Alex denied any claims of cheating.

The igloo was decorated with fairy lights and elaborate pink and red balloons as a table for two was laid inside. The elaborate table setting was complete with candlesticks, roses and a glowing neon pink love heart – a nod to the signage in the Love Island villa where they met.

In a sweet video, Chris filmed Maura’s reaction to his surprise as she stood in front of the back door in a tight black dress, holding a glass of red wine.

Rose petals lay scattered on the floor as the curtains slowly opened to reveal the igloo in the garden.
