Britney Spears mentions upcoming project as fans speculate she is acknowledging new Netflix special

Britney Spears‘ social media has been under intense scrutiny for months following the explosive #FreeBritney movement that aims to shed light on her ongoing 13-year conservatorship.

After the release of the Framing Britney Spears documentary, fans continue to refocus on the 39-year-old’s seemingly bizarre Instagram account, in an effort to unearth clues about her well-being.

On Wednesday, she posted a selfie in one of her usual floral blouses as she seemed to continue to allude to an upcoming project called ‘Just A Touch of Rose,’ while coyly seeming to acknowledge upcoming Netflix documentary.

‘Just A Touch Of Rose’: Britney Spears, 39, continues to allude to an upcoming project she has dubbed ‘Just A Touch Of Rose’ on social media as she poses in one of her usual floral tops with fans thinking she is acknowledging the upcoming Netflix documentary

‘Another shot from the shoot I did for Just A Touch Of Rose!!! Red is still in motion…coming to theatres near you soon….KIDDING!!!!,’ she wrote.

Though many took the caption as playful in nature, others tried to decipher some hidden meaning, most notably the elusive statement ‘Red is still in motion.’

Many were convinced she was subtly acknowledging the upcoming Netflix special which was announced early this week, as the platform has become known for its ‘red’ interface.

This is not the first time she has mentioned this ‘Rose’ related project, first speaking about it August, however her mention of ‘in theatres’ and emoji use has many convinced she is starting to speak out about the conservatorship in subtle ways.

Backlogged content: Fans also continue to be confused with her posting of various videos and photos in the same outfits, as she has gone back and forth on social media saying none of her content is more than a month old before negating that statement; pictured January 2020

With fans still angered with the nature of her conservatorship as controlled by dad Jamie Spears since 2008, her loyal fan base is seeking more answers and putting pressure for him to step down.

Capitalizing on the New York Times/Hulu documentary buzz around her situation, Netflix is following suit with their own investigation, as there are still many questions left unanswered and her legal situation is ongoing.

At the end of Framing Britney Spears, text popped up that read: ‘The New York Times attempted to reach Britney Spears directly to request her participation in this project. It is unclear if she received the requests.’

Though it seems unlikely she would be legally able to provide any comment at this time for an upcoming special, the whole world has become razor focused on her situation.

She took to social media after the documentary debut and wrote: ‘Each person has their story and their take on other people’s stories !!!! We all have so many different bright beautiful lives!!’

‘Remember, no matter what we think we know about a person’s life it is nothing compared to the actual person living behind the lens. ‘

A continuous slew of confusing Instagram content over the past few months has continued to be worrisome to those scrutinizing her current situation, as the presence of similar outfits in posts months apart has led some to believe she has backlogged content.

She said in an Instagram live ‘none of my pictures or posts are more than a month old,’ before saying on a post in November that a video she had posted was ‘3 months old.’

When fans started to think this was her way of publicizing that she was not in control of her social media, her social media manager Cassie Petrey spoke out just ahead of the documentary.

‘Britney creates her own posts and writes her own captions for Instagram…Nobody is suggesting any of that stuff to her. She generally edits the videos herself. If a video she sends in is edited by her social media team, it’s because she gave specific instructions and asked for it to be edited that way,’ her statement read.

Petrey continued, ‘Britney is not “asking for help” or leaving secret messages in her social media. She is literally just living her life and trying to have fun on Instagram.’

Her conservatorship is still being contested with the most recent hearing occurring last week.

In a ruling Jamie was denied full control over her estate and finances after Britney’s lawyer maintained she was ‘afraid of him,’ but he has not been removed as her conservator completely, despite her stating she will not perform again as long as he is in charge.
