Roman Kemp takes part in a VERY messy centre of gravity challenge

‘Did a TikTok… won’t do a TikTok again’ Roman Kemp is left with egg on his face after taking part in a VERY messy centre of gravity challenge

Roman Kemp was quite literally left with egg on his face on Wednesday after taking part in the latest viral craze to hit TikTok – the centre of gravity challenge.

Usually undertaken by couples, the challenge requires participants to balance on their knees with their arms crossed behind their backs without falling flat on their faces.

Making his own attempt, Roman, 28, raised the bar a little higher by precariously balancing above a bowl filled with various messy food items.

‘I think when an element of fear is added, guys are a little bit better,’ he told Instagram followers before getting started.

Unfortunately for Roman his confidence was unfounded, with the presenter repeatedly plunging his face into a mixture of raw eggs, flour, dog food and out of date whipping cream.

Captioning his poor effort on Instagram after cleaning himself up, he wrote: ‘did a TikTok, won’t do a TikTok again…’

The traditional gender based version of the challenge determines that men naturally fall, while women are able to successfully hold their balance.

Experts say the reason of this can be explained by the natural centre of gravity difference between men and women.

Generally speaking, men are built longer and larger than women, and their proportions make it more difficult to move in the same fashion.

Scientist Jeremy Johnson told The Sun: ‘The centre of mass for most girls is lower to the hips, while the centre of mass in boys is much higher.’

A peer-reviewed study published by the Theoretical Biology and Medical Modelling, confirmed woman and men do have different centers of gravity.

‘It is well know that on average women commonly have an 8 to 15 per cent lower longitudinal center of gravity (COG or center of mass relative to height) than men,’ the study confirmed.

‘This anatomic differentiation has been speculated to have arisen evolutionarily during the development of bipedal locomotion as a means to provide better stability in females during pregnancy and infant carriage’.
