James Marsden mourns the loss of his beloved dog Buddy

Actor James Marsden and his family are in mourning, with the actor revealing that his beloved dog Buddy has passed away.

The 47-year-old X-Men star took to Instagram on Tuesday afternoon to share several photos of him and his family with Buddy.

He also shared a heartfelt message about his precious pooch, while a number of celebrity friends chimed in with their condolences.

‘He was love. He was healing. He was the center of our little universe and our best friend,’ Marsden began. 

‘Rest In Peace, our sweet Buddy, and we will meet again,’ he concluded, along with a heart emoji.

The first photo he shared featured the actor embracing his beloved pet on a trail that overlooks Los Angeles.

Other photos include throwback snaps of the dog with the actor’s three children, Jack, 20, Mary, 15 and William 8, with the dog during their childhood.

One of the photos was from Buddy’s birthday, with two of the kids posing with Buddy in front of a bone-shaped cake. 

There are other candid moments including the kids all covered with mud hugging the white-haired pooch.

A number of Marsden’s celebrity friends responded to his post, including Kaley Cuoco, who said, ‘Omg been there nothing like it, along with Courteney Cox who added, ‘Awww so sorry.’

Aaron Paul also sent a heart emoji, while Olivia Munn added, ‘Oh I’m so sory. Rest in love, Buddy.’

Ben Schwartz and Adam Scott also sent heart emojis to convey their condolences to Marsden.

Marsden most recently starred in Sonic the Hedgehog, which Paramount recently announced will be getting a sequel.

He’s also been keeping busy on the small screen, playing Steve Wood on Dead to Me, Phil Crane in Mrs. America and Stu Redman in The Stand.

It was also recently announced that he will Tim Templeton in The Boss Baby: Family Business, and he’s also slated to star in an Enchanted sequel dubbed Disenchanted.
