Abbie Chatfield says she’s tired of men shaming women for wearing makeup – and slams the notion that enhancing your face is ‘false advertising’

The Bachelor‘s Abbie Chatfield has some choice words for men who believe women shouldn’t wear makeup.

Appearing in the latest episode of the It’s A Lot podcast on Tuesday, the 25-year-old passionately ranted about how men often bully and ‘discredit’ women for enhancing their looks with makeup, rather than accept it as a legitimate art-form.

‘Girls get shamed for being really into makeup,’ she declared.

They make you feel discredited’: The Bachelor’s Abbie Chatfield, 25, (pictured) ranted about how men often shame women for wearing makeup during the latest feiry episode of her It’s A Lot podcast on Tuesday

Abbie reveals that she, like many other girls, was shamed in high school for wearing makeup.

She now believes that makeup-shaming has become an internet trend in recent years.

‘It’s like an internet culture thing, where I think a lot of men tell women they’re wearing way too much makeup if they’re good at makeup, and they make you feel discredited for being really into something that you really enjoy,’ she ranted.

‘At the end of the day, makeup is art,’ she insisted, before explaining that many young girls feel the pressure not to wear makeup for the sake of boys’ approval.

‘I think some girls unfortunately feel the pressure. And this isn’t because they’re bad people or because they necessarily hate themselves, she said.

‘But I think because they feel so much pressure to be the ‘no makeup girl’ and be like, ‘I don’t wear makeup, I don’t have to enhance myself, I’m comfortable with myself, it’s totally fine’.’

Abbie went on to blast the male-centric rhetoric of makeup being ‘false advertising’.

‘First of all, it’s not an ad for you. I’m not trying to seduce you,’ she said.

‘I just like how I look with makeup on, it’s as simple as that.’
