A popular 21-year-old barmaid and mother-of-two took her own life after ‘the fight got too hard’, her devastated family have revealed.
Hundreds of tributes have been paid to Sophie Watts from Guisborough, North Yorkshire, after her sudden death on February 4. The mother leaves behind two children aged two and four and a partner.
Sophie’s sister Bethany Watts, 24, told TeesideLive of how her ‘party girl’ sister ‘lit up any room she walked into’ and had been well known in the area – working at the Aruba nightclub, Redcar.

Bethany told the publication: ‘She was the life and soul of every party and lit up any room she walked into. She was constantly pranking people.’
She told how her sister had called her friends as normal on the morning of her death.
On saturday around 150 people released orange balloons near the river at South Gare, Redcar, to remember Sophie, who often wore bright orange eyeshadow.
Bethany, who was very close to her sister, wrote in a tribute to Sophie: ’21 years old and such a hard life she lived, nothing was ever easy for her and in the end the fight got too hard and she got too tired to fight anymore.

‘Our family is so broken at the minute. One minute we had her the next she was gone just like that.’
The sister told TeesideLive how Sophie had loved her job behind the bar at Aruba nightclub before the Covid pandemic.
Sophie is survived by her large family, mother and father Debbie and Peter, and her four sisters and three brothers.
The family have set up a GoFundMe to raise funds for Sophie’s funeral and headstone.
